My Name
Leader at all levels of the organization management system serves as the lead person, set the focus of the work team, recruitment, psychological climate and other aspects of the enterprise. So the leadership is the ability to influence individuals and groups, encouraging them to work to achieve the goals of the organization. One of the most important characteristics of the head of business is leadership style.
Leadership style is manner of behavior of leader towards subordinates to influence them and encourage achieving the organization's objectives. In the terms of one of the most common leadership theory of Lewin, I think, that on the base of my personal leadership profile I will choose democratic mode of organizational leadership. Democratic management style is characterized by the distribution of powers, initiative and responsibility between the manager and deputy, the leader and subordinates. The head of a democratic style always finds the collective opinion on important issues of production, takes a collective decision. Regularly and timely a leader informs members of the group about issues, which are important for them. Communication with employees takes place in the form of requests, suggestions, recommendations, advice, incentives for high-quality and efficient work, kind and polite. Head stimulates a favorable psychological climate in the team, defends the interests of employees.
Furthermore, there are no "bad" or "good" leadership styles. Specific situation, type of activity, personal characteristics of subordinates and other factors determine the optimal ratio of each style and the predominant style of leadership. The study of leadership practice organizations testifies that the effective leader in greater or lesser extent use each of the three styles of leadership.
While speaking of leadership styles, it is impossible not to touch upon ethics and morality of leadership. When analyzing the behavior of any person, including the leader, in terms of ethics firstly it is necessary to identify his personal values-goals and values-tools and assess how they relate to each other. About really moral behavior can be said only if in order to achieve positive (with points of view of group and individual) goals using positive means. Leader`s behavior rating can be also made by the vector "motive of leadership activity - its consequences". The leader`s ethics can be also measured by the way of implementing the goals and how these goals coincide or diverge with the group`s goals. In this case, one pole will be a leader who uses his position and his power only in their own interests, and the other will be a leader, using his position and power solely in the interests of the group. Ethical issues can also be viewed in the terms of the Deaner`s ethical principles. «A loose consensus exists that these principles include effective use of human resources, participation, collaborating, democratic decision-making, regenerative interaction, employee empowerment, employee influence over organization destiny, openness, authenticity and honesty». It can be said, that using this set of principles can lead to a real moral leadership. From my point of view, modern leader should use these principles and to define his/her work in the terms of ethic behavior.
In order to reach professional growth in organizational leadership, firstly, it is needed to set clear goals. People sometimes fail due to the fact that the vague ideas of the goal to which aspire to. First of all, during the year I want to pass at least two training courses or training for self-development. For example, effective business communication, leadership, public speaking, skills, personal time management, decision making, etc. Secondly, I am going to talk - formally or informally - with recognized and respected by me leaders to listen to their ideas on leadership and to understand how they came to him. The third goal is to read over the year at least one book on leadership and to develop at least five practical steps on its basis. I hope that this stated goals will help me to develop my leadership skills.
