Being a manager of huge rehabilitation centre, which is providing short-tem services regarding rehabilitation care, and is also, proposing the introduction of the long-term services for the rehabilitation care on the outpatient as well as inpatient basis. In order to provide long term services new employees will be hired and they will be trained by the experienced management team. Being a manager, I will try to hire responsible people for the rehabilitation centre. It is because to run a care home is a matter of huge responsibility, and it requires hiring of the responsible staff (Lewis, 2014). Teamwork and coordination will be ensured in the centre. Moreover, proper and open communication will be ensured so that everyone is aware of the information. Buchbinder and Shanks have described the views of Laschinger and Fingan that ensuring open communication will result in higher job satisfaction of the healthcare staff, and they will like to remain attach to their respective organization (Buchbinder & Shanks, 2012).
In this regard, patient-centered team communication method is appropriate for the rehabilitation centre because it ensures improvement in the communication as well as in the patient care (Ignatavicius & Workman, 2013). Furthermore, it should be ensured that everyone within the organization is a part of communication, as it will promote cooperation and create participative environment within the organization. The employees in the healthcare who consider the climate of their work unit as participative instead of authoritative, however, provide effective customer service, and commit fewer mistakes (Angermeier, Dunford, Boss, & Boss, 2009). They also express low chances of leaving the healthcare organization (Buchbinder & Shanks, 2012). The subordinates should be encouraged to provide the feedback, and they should be consulted before implementing any change in the organization. Furthermore, nurse communication as well as collaboration should be ensured because it is vital for the appropriate utilization of the resources, patient care, and preventing the problems of the patients. Being a manager, I will ensure effectual upward as well as downward flow of the information.
The internal relationships that must be considered include the relationship with the nurses, physicians, surgeons, and heath science professionals, which include medical assistants, therapists, anesthesiologists’ assistants, and the surgical technologists. Proper coordination should be ensured with these medical personnel and an effective environment should be provided to them so that they can deliver proper healthcare services to the patients (Tweedy, 2005). Being manager, I will monitor the processes and the infrastructure in order to make the rehabilitation centre responsive to the requirements and needs of the employees and patients.
Moreover, I will understand the healthcare professionals, because the more I understand them, the more I will be able to perform my job effectively as a healthcare manager. The external relationships that must be considered include the licensing bodies, and the pharmacists, and the financing agencies. The relations with the licensing bodies are required in order to confirm the educational record of the physicians, nurses, and surgeons. The relationship with the pharmacists is important so that the latest medicines that are useful for the treatment of patients can be introduced in the rehabilitation centre, and relation with the financing agencies is necessary so that in case of the shortage of funds, these agencies can be contacted so that the patients can be facilitated with the proper care as well as their financial sufferings and hardships can also be alleviated.
