Project Management 1
Interesting enough, project management is 2 words that are heard quite a bit in big organizations like Human Resources for example. Now, despite the fact that project management comes in handy in any and every organization, there are some definite pros and cons to project management. They are these:
Advantages
One of the advantages of project management is that the customer is always right, when you have effective project management, the client doing business with the company will always come back to that company when they need something done.
Another advantage in project management is that people will be able to work smarter and enjoy their work because phenomenally effective project management can make work fun as well as headache free.
Advantage #3 to having project management is that your team will be inspired to do and be better as well as trying to find different unique ways to improve certain aspects within the company not to mention that you’ll be hailed a hero for your implementation.
Leading an effective team to constant strategic victory in complicated or just regular projects brings advantage #4 into the picture, people in the corporate world are always looking for great project managers which can lead to job opportunities if the person is looking for a change in scenery.
Now, as most people are aware, just as there are benefits so are there stumbling blocks to project management. They are these:
Disadvantages
One of the biggest cons to having project management is that it requires money to make changes within the company, some companies usually hemorrhage money in the aspect of paying for things that they need. If a project manager is needed and the company can’t pay for it, this will leave the company in a very precarious situation.
Some project managers are undervalued which is another disadvantage in dealing with project management, most of the project managers refuse to do work if their demands are not met which usually involves a lot of money and time which some companies can’t afford.
Project management can often times leave room for miscommunication which can lead to disadvantage # 3, the lack of communication in project management can make people hesitant about working with a project managers especially if he/she don’t know exactly what to do or aren’t very clear about their orders.
Competition between some of the coworkers is another project management disadvantage, some people will compete with other coworkers on their ideas being better overall because of the aspect of the plan to make life easier at the company somehow. This can leave some project managers feeling exhausted and consumed by time trying to stop a competition or a fight between the working crew.
The final obstacle to project management is that most project managers have a lot of responsibility which usually means that they are responsible for everything that’s right and everything that can go wrong. This can decrease a project manager’s morale because if anything goes wrong then the project manager will be blamed almost immediately even if the mistake was made by some else and it was minor.
