The internet plays an essential role in enhancing children’s learning experiences. It also helps children to interact with friends through social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, WhatsApp. However, as a tool, predators use the internet to prey upon naïve children. For instance, Internet predators use the internet to create false and new identities that they use to lure unsuspecting children. Besides, they hide their true ages, making it relatively difficult for children to identify them. There are incidents when children are bullied online to the extent that they decide to commit suicide. Even though children perceive their parents’ decisions to monitor their online activities as infringements on their privacy, it is essential to safeguard them from online predators and other awful incidents such as internet bullying.
