I am SONAGNON A. DABLI from Benin (West Africa) and now I live in New York. I am a transfer student at New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology Socorro, NM. Right now I would like to pursue graduate study from this institution in Petroleum Engineering.
When I was undergraduate student in Civil Engineering, I got opportunity to work as intern in two good organizations. During one of my summer internship I got exposure in petroleum industry. At that time I worked on a gas station in a construction project and since then a strong interest was developed in me to pursue my career in Petroleum Engineering. Being a working engineer I always wanted to know the drilling process, technology used in drilling process, the methodology by which petrol is extracted from offshore platform etc. For this reason, I would like to pursue my graduate study from your esteemed institution in Petroleum engineering.
After completing my education from school I got admission in Higher School of Civil Engineering (ESGC-VAK)- Cotonou, Benin (West Africa) from where I passed out in July,2010. After graduation from the university I got opportunity to work as intern. During my summer internship in GIRAF ARCHITECTURE, COTONOU, BENIN I got exposure to architectural drawing and structural drawing and this helped me to study engineering drawings which is very important for working engineer. I also got a chance to work with Bâtiment-plus COTONOU, BENIN as summer intern. After completing my graduation I joined CECO BTP, Civil Engineering Enterprise, Cotonou, Benin as an Assistant Engineer. In this organization my responsibilities were analyzing survey, mapping and materials-testing data with computer modeling software, judging whether projects are workable by assessing materials, estimating costs and time requirements, assessing the environmental impact and risks connected to projects, preparing bids for tenders, and reporting to clients, public agencies and planning bodies. I was rewarded Building’s Design National Test Award and Building’s Contractor National Test Award in the year of 2007.I have also worked with Virginia Dare Extract Company, Brooklyn, New York as Compounder and Flavor analyst from 2012 to 2014. I have also joined SPE-New Mexico Student Chapter, American Association of drilling Engineers (AADE) -New Mexico, and National society of black engineers as a student of Petroleum Engineering. During my professional career, internship and study I have leant various softwares like Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Autocad, Archicad, Robot structural analysis. Not only that, my professional career has created ample opportunities to develop communication skill such as public Speaking, technical writing; leadership skill; dealing with people; carrying out job under pressure etc.
I have selected New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology Socorro, NM for its outstanding records as engineering institution, good faculties, remarkable academic excellence and facilities. I really appreciate work of Dr. Bill Lyons on design of drilling; completion programs for low pore pressure gas wells and work over operations. I would like to be one of his great research team. I also appreciate ongoing research of Dr. Her-Yuan Chen on well testing and coupling of fluids flow and stress models.
I am sincere, hard- working person in nature and I have perseverance and patience. I believe that I have the qualities to be successful as a graduate student and I am also looking for an opportunity where my skills, my qualities will help the institution for their research work as well as I can be benefitted from much needed guidance from remarkable faculties to pursue my higher study as well as to built my career in my desired stream. My long term goal is to work as a production engineer as well as apply my knowledge of civil engineering in petroleum industry. I would like to be an active member of American Association of drilling Engineers and the Society Petroleum Engineer. I would further like to specialize in design of new technology for drilling and establish my company.
I am hoping for getting a chance to be part of graduate program in your esteemed institution.
Thank you very much for your patience, time and consideration.
