My Early Life
I am originally from the UAE (United Arab Emirates). When I was a child, my parents decided to migrate to Canada. We lived there for over 10 years. We eventually left our house in Canada after my parents decided to go back to the UAE once again, for good perhaps. I have lived in two countries so far. The native language in UAE is Arabic while the ones in Canada are English and French. Through my years of stay in UAE and Canada, I have learned how to understand and fluently speak their respective native languages—now that is a total of 3 languages in my language skills set. My childhood was well spent. I had the time to enjoy my childhood years as a child with my parents and other members of the family, nothing more and nothing less.
My Hobbies
I am a fun-loving and a reasonable person. I love adventures. I actually think that that is the reason why I have always been involved with sports and outdoor activities. I love playing football and basketball the most because I think they are the ones that can make you more fit compared to other sports such as golf and bowling. Besides, I like to be outdoors rather than indoors. I also do mountain climbing from time to time. I have actually climbed two mountain summits already—Kilimanjaro and Elbrus, 2 of the 7 highest summits in the world. Should I have the time and opportunity, I would love to climb up again and reach the remaining 5 mountain summits. I am also a scuba diver. My passion for it has encouraged me to master it. With all of these activities, I was able to balance work, play, and my social life as well.
My Educational Background and Post-Graduation Experiences
I studied primary education in Canada before we went back to UAE when I was 14. I continued my studies in UAE and enrolled in Sharjah American International School for my secondary education which I finished in 2002. I was finally ready for college. I have planned for my college as early as when I was a sophomore secondary school student and part of that master plan was to finish a degree that is related to Business. Before I got officially enrolled in college, I took up a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences but was not able to finish the entire course. I was able to earn 15 credits nevertheless and so I think the time and resources I spent there were not wasted.
I was thinking of the goal I set when I was in 2nd year. Keeping that goal in mind, I enrolled in Ajman University of Science and Technology for a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing. After four years of hard work and almost no play, I was able to graduate. I said to myself that I am not going to stop and focus more time and energy on my career until I got married by the age of 23. I was blessed to have 3 kids, all of whom are boys. I decided to be a full-time mom rather than to let these kids grow without a mom—at least emotionally. I honestly think that I made the right decision because I would not have been this close to my kids if I have chosen otherwise. I wanted to continue studying, for a Master’s Degree that time, so that I can strengthen my portfolio and be a better asset to whatever company I would have worked for. But having 3 toddlers was so time-consuming that I was not able to turn it into reality.
My Professional Experience
I have a rich experience in the business and management industry. I started working in 2003 as an Assistant Manager. My second job was at Remix Tech L.L.C. as a General and Project Manager in 2005. The achievements I made and the knowledge and experience I obtained in the past made me eligible to be appointed as the CEO of Tech Group, a real estate and construction group of companies. It was a very rewarding feeling. Imagine being able to reach that far considering the fact that I was studying for my Bachelor’s degree at the same time.
My Plans, Goals, and Ambitions
Despite being the CEO of the company, I still have a lot of plans on my mind. There is no way I am going to stop from reaching my long term and life goals I have had plans ever since I was in elementary. Fortunately, I was able to turn most of them into reality. My current goal is to be able to continue my education and obtain a Master’s Degree and then after that, a PhD, hopefully on a course related to business and management. I wanted to continue studying because I have always wanted to be able to contribute more to our business. I want to nurture and expand it; diversify the services that we currently offer and if possible, expand further into the service and retail industry. Being able to be trained and educated in a university such as the Cass Business School would be a great springboard for me to achieve my goals. If there is a perfect time to do that that would be now. My kids have also started going to school and so my time and responsibility as a parent would not necessarily be neglected. There would be a lot of pressure, yes, but my time management skill, which has been honed in my previous years of being an employee and a student at the same time, would enable me to adapt and make it.
