Types of Different Personalities
Freud and Fromm studied four different types of personalities possessed by human beings. They are discussed in the following manner from a leadership perspective:
The Erotic Personality
Individuals that possess this personality want to be loved and needed by others all the time. Compared to respect, people in this personality group tend to emphasize more on being liked and loved by others. They want to be known to others and wish to actively socialize with others. In all erotic personality holders are attention seekers and depend on others to make them happy.
The Obsessive Personality
People in this category tend to search for better quality of everything in their life. Individuals possessing this personality tend to be self-reliant, self-sufficient and do not need help from others. This is because they possess strong self values and esteem which is followed every moment of life.
The Narcissist
People in possession of this personality type tend to take pride in whatever they undertake while letting people know about it through announcement. This is because they want to be recognized in the society through show-off. If people owning narcissist personalities are not considered or invited in any undertaking they like, they are more likely to become easily disappointed. They want to do anything whatever they please regardless of its outcome.
The Marketing Personality
These people consider themselves as a commodity and place values on themselves depending upon their capability to sell their services. Due to their emptiness in life driven by stress, anxiety and worry, they tend to possess fewer positive qualities.
Self-Personality Analysis
Depending upon the four different characteristics of personalities identified in the previous section, the most dominant versions of my personality is a combination of erotic and narcissist characteristics. As far as marketing orientation is concerned, I am less dominated by this personality type since I do not seek to please anyone just to release my own emptiness. Because of my limited introvert attitude, I am somehow driven by obsessive personality traits. When it comes to spending, I only look for quality products for satisfaction. I enjoy life to a certain limit for which I do not seek high quality living standard because I believe in simplicity of life.
Productive and Unproductive Version of My Personality Type
Productive Version of personality refers to characteristics without a mask, as compared to unproductive personality version. As far as my personality traits are concerned, the most dominant “unproductive” feature is Narcissist Characteristics. This is because I tend to do anything that pleases me and makes me happy. I always go after what I like and what suits me.
However, in contrast to this, the most dominant feature of my “productive” personality is Erotic Characteristics. This is because, from deep level of my heart, I want others to love and appreciate my undertakings. I depend on outside stimulus and people to make me happy. That is why; I always go after those material things and people who make me feel valued, happy and loved.
Someone who is a Productive Narcissist
In the business world, Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, is considered to be a productive narcissist. This is because he had a self-belief and was self-reliant in his approach to change the world of social media and marketing. He is known to be a transformational leader to see bigger pictures and undertake risky challenges. Due to his visionary personality, Mark Zuckerberg has identified and solved problems of social media and networking through Facebook .
