The two assignments that I will review in this assignment are the evolution of books and the internet. The two assignments document about the evolution of the communication methods as well as indicate important personality in these modes of communication. Both books and the internet have become interdependent, with the existence of the internet allowing for soft copy books and online libraries.
The evolution of books and the internet have been one of the most important innovations in mass communication. Books are universally accepted media of communication, learning, and entertainment. The internet has also been allowed between the 1981 and 1990 for public utilization allowing for mass interaction on social and business sites around the globe. As opposed to the past, when there were no computers, books were written on scrolls in coded forms allowing for reading within schools of the philosophers. Internet communication was equally impossible. Nevertheless, the evolution of the two phenomena has developed each other, with the later seeming to threaten the existence of physical books.
Physical books have significantly been replaced by the e-books following the invention and universal acceptance as well as access to the internet. Readers can currently access online libraries, or read the e-books on the internet sites such as Amazon, which introduced the Amazon Kindle in 2007 allowing for the digital e-book reading (Dunn). The future of books seems diminishing to the internet with every producer, printer and vendors resorting to the internet for marketing, selling, and publishing for readership of the books. Therefore, with the growing access to the internet through gadgets such as mobile phones, mini computers, and tablets, students, researchers, and other readers would have to enjoy their readings from the comfort of their homes without having to visit physical libraries. Most internet users and service providers seem also to increase by the centuries, predicting the possibility of more liberality on the internet. The internet has however been blamed for addiction, which on one hand could be disadvantageous, but on the other hand important for researchers and learners who might need more time with their books.
