My Local Art Museum welcomes you to an interesting and knowledgeable exhibition. It is time to experience the influence the Impressionists and Post-Impressionists painting eras. It is outstanding to understand the changes that the art world has experienced over time.
Impressionism
Impressionism is an art movement of the 19th century. The movement started with some artists from Paris. The artists were creative in their art, and the element brought in extensive business for them in the 1870s and 1880s.
The impressionist art is characterized with various elements. They are small, thin but visible Bush strokes. They involve open composition, emphasis on accuracy in the light depiction as the quality of the paintings change.
At some point, the object appears ordinary, and they easily define human perception and experience. They are created at unusual visual angles. Short, thick strokes were highly significant in the art as they could paint quickly. The colors were applied side-by-side with minimal mixing. The paint for the paintings was usually applied to white colored ground. The natural light plays a critical role in making the paintings attractive.
The uniqueness of impressionism is based on the exclusive response to the challenges that came with photography. Photographers were challenged by the creativity and talent that the impressionists portrayed. Photographers played a critical role in influencing the impressionists to design more attractive paintings. The impressionists also introduced the Japonism, which were the Japanese art prints.
The impressionists challenged the science behind photography by developing paintings that could resemble the photos. They never believed that technology would defeat their efforts. However, they employed technology to enable them mix the colors well and make attractive paintings.
The painting below is a representative of the many impressionists’ paintings that will be in the exhibition. It is the Dock at Deauville painting.
(Fernandez 50).
Post-impressionism was a movement in art that took place from 1880 to 1905 in France. Roger Fry is the British artists behind the Post-Impressionist term.
Post-impressionism is an extension of impressionism. The artists maximized on the potential of impressionism and rejected all the negative traits about the art. It will be educative to witness the changes that have taken place from impressionism. The effectiveness of the change is evident in the post-impressionism paintings.
The post-impressionism art is a continuity of the impressionism art since the artists continued to use vivid colors. That art uses thick application of paint, in creating or developing real-life subject matter. The post-impressionism piece of art inclines into extensive geometric forms. The geometric forms distort the sensitivity of the expressive effect. The art also rejected the use of unnatural as well as arbitrary color.
Post-impressionism is the proper indication of the elements that continue to change in the art industry. It challenges cubism, which is an overhaul revolution in painting and it comes at the Post-impressionism era. It challenges the insignificance of geometry in post-impressionism art. However, it is not easy to overshadow the post-impressionism art since it defines uniqueness and creativity. There is an element of creativity and originality in the use of natural paints.
The philosophy of the post-impressionists dictates, that what human beings see depends on how and when they see it. The impressionists were passionate about the attractiveness of color.
The uniqueness of the art is only evident to those who will be in our exhibition.
