Conversation is the progression of exchanging views, experience and feelings among participants. The human mind is made of a learning system which keeps on changing in response to various experiences. The interaction of people through conversation means to deliver the existing knowledge and generate new ideas . Importance of conversation can never be ignored. In fact, the whole society, culture, norms and values of the world is formulated by the interaction of people. Conversation provides the basic step to invite two or more than two participants to come into one place and start sharing their views. Moreover, conversation also develops the outlook of participant’s personality when he or she communicates with others.
Communication Strategy
Communication strategy consists of planning, organizing, delivering and accomplishing the purpose of your communication. This can only be done when communicator knows about its audience, intention, message and channel to deliver the message. In other words, communication strategy consists of answering four questions to deliver a complete, concise and clear message to the appropriate audience.
The first step to formulate the communication strategy is to define why the communication is going to be made. In other words, it defines the purpose of the communication and its ultimate objectives. For instance, the purpose of the communication can be to influence the audience to make a particular decision, increase awareness of a particular issue or providing information related to a particular topic.
The next step of this strategy is to define the message which is going to be delivered in the communication. The message must comply with the intention of the audience and the purpose of the communication. The body of the message and its impact on the minds of the audience should match with the objective or purpose of the communication.
It is also very important to know about different suitable channels which is used to deliver message to get access to the maximum potential audience. In such a technological era, there are many channels by which a communicator deliver message to its audience. Channel of communication depends on the kind of message which is going to be delivered, the type of audience which is going to attend that communication and the purpose of action which is expected from the audience. Different channels in today’s modern era include video conferencing, direct speech on a stage, recorded lectures, promotional ads and group meetings.
The last step is to define the audience which is going to attend the communication. Defining the audience is very important because it tells about their intentions, level of understanding, the purpose of attending that ceremony and formulation of the message to convince them to take a particular step.
Leader’s Understanding about Communication Strategy
Understanding about communication strategy can only be well explained when implemented in a conversation. Conversation is the basic form of interaction of participants that provides the best platform to practice communication strategies. Understanding communication strategy in conversation can better exchange the ideas and views which can be quite helpful to highlight and enhance someone’s personality . A man cannot be a successful leader unless he or she possesses some exceptional communication skills. Merely academic knowledge cannot make someone a good communicator. However, if a suitable communication strategy is used to convince the audience, a person can develop a good communication skill which leads him to become a leader .
It is imperative for the leaders to fully understand the communication strategy and practice it in their daily conversation. A leader is considered to be an inspirational personality because the audience’s expectations from him generally remain higher than from other people. Moreover, the main objective of a leader while communicating is to convince other people to do a particular action or bring a behavioral change. Therefore, it is important for leaders to follow a suitable strategy for speech or daily conversation.
Using strategy in conversation is vital because it helps to develop an identity of the leader since its first interaction with people. Furthermore, it also enhances the communication skill which ultimately helps him to deliver a good speech while standing on the stage. Knowing about audience is very important for a leader. In an organized conversation, a communicator formulates message in such a way that it helps to solve the problem of the listener or fulfils its purpose of listening the message. In other words, by practicing communication strategy in a conversation not only polishes the communication skill of a leader but also increases its understanding to know about its audience and their intentions.
Communication strategy possesses many advantages for a leader. Communication strategy itself is a very rich concept which not only organizes the whole message in a professional way but also increases other leadership skills of a person, for instance, developing social circle, convincing power, understanding audience minds and other leadership skill (Brown 2007).
