Description
- Internet Cloud – This is also referred as “network cloud”. It is a public or semi public space. Thus, Internet cloud is a space that encompasses all the information that can be accessed by servers from any point in the world.
- Server – A server is a computer program, which gives services to other computer programs. This also fulfills requests from other subsequent client servers and client computers.
- Router/ Firewall – This is a device that transmits data packets through different networks. It is connected to local area networks and wide area networks. They are positioned at gateways where multiple networks connect.
- Switch – This is also referred as switching hub. It links network devices and network segments. This connects multiple computers in one local area network.
- Workstation – A workstation is a pc, which is connected to network. It helps to share network resources with high-end servers. These workstations are embedded with built in high-speed graphic adapters. They help in complex data analysis and visualization.
- Wi-Fi – It is an Internet medium that enables data exchange without cables or chords. It uses 2.5 Giga hertz UHF and 5 Gigs Hertz SHF radio waves.
- Desktop pc – It is a personal computer for regular use at a unique location. The main components of this being power supply, motherboard, monitor, hard drive and optical drive.
- Smartphone – Smartphone is a mobile phone, which is capable of performing multiple functions like that of a computer. Large screen and operating system helps to perform general-purpose applications.
- Laptop – A portable version of desktop computer. It combines features of desktop computers and are suitable for mobile use. Rechargeable battery or power adapter powers it.
- Tablets – It is a very small portable pc which accepts inputs directly via screen rather than mouse or keyboard.
