Kuwait community comprises from a number of nomads who happened to settle on the coastal region of Arabian Gulf. Searching for greener pastures is a characteristic of nomads and so explains the reason of settlement along the coast, they also consisted of several tribes with from different clans. After settling at the coastal region, they looked for the safest shelter by building forts, this was to cater for security purpose against other nomads who were also in search for greener pastures. Many Kuwaitis settled and population increased, this led to formation of nations, ethnicity, economic activities and political interests developed as well. There was urbanization which is characterized by modern architectural designed buildings. During the gulf war however, the Kuwaitis communities were left demoralized as per the results and impacts of war aftermath (Alex and Jim, 62).
The gulf war led to destruction that contributed to impacts on social, economic and political activities of Kuwaitis (Anna L, 305). These impacts are still experienced up to the present modern Kuwait. The social impacts were negative and it disillusioned Kuwaitis community. When there are social problems, it affects the culture and ethnicity of the victims. The problems range from religion, roles of a woman, drug abuse and alcoholism and the increase of multicultural communities in Kuwait.
Focus on a specific social problem that has affected Kuwaitis community and that is drug abuse and alcoholism. It is quite obvious that people of Kuwait were affected by the occurrence of first gulf war; many were left depressed under the memories of what occurred during the event. Many Kuwaitis were host aged, raped and murdered; others were killed when they searched for rescue. Under a normal curve of a human being, it is difficult to resist those feelings of bitterness thus resulting to depression; many Kuwaitis tend to act normal by using drugs and alcohol to erase these memories. They feel betrayed by the Arab states, and therefore cannot accept anything offered from Arabs (Anita L, 62).
In the event of relying on alcohol and drugs to erase these memories, there is development of influence due to peer pressure among the youths of Kuwait community, this increase the rate at which consumption of alcohol and drugs is growing. For the community of Kuwait it is characterized by Islamic religion and does not allow consumption of drugs and alcohol. The blame is under the multicultural environment that is developing in Kuwait therefore resulting to social changes (George R, 59). The consequences of having a number of people under the influence of drugs and alcohol include robbery thus leading to insecurity, school dropout hence most people will not end up completing their education, loss of jobs due to poor performance and death when the impacts of drugs goes beyond human control.
The impacts that come with drugs and alcohol addiction have the consequences of lagging the economic growth since there is no labor and competent people to run the economy. It is a growing social problem in Kuwait and has raised concern on how to end it, since it is not only a social problem but also a contributor to economic problem (Maurice J, Et all, 98).
