Providing feedback
1.
I chose this topic because I remember being given feedback at school and how it motivated me to work better and raised a want to improve myself. Feedback is the most powerful yet a very cost effective way to get people on track and it affects the future behavior of a person providing opportunities to create a positive impact if given constructively. The constructive feedback has always made a great difference between my success and failure. To me, feedback is a sharing of information that serves as an effective guide that results in behavioral change and enhances a person’s motivation.
2.
The lack of feedback makes me overly self-critical and contaminates my feelings of satisfaction. Feedback helps me measure my performance and enriches my self-knowledge about the strategies and decisions I take while working. It has always enabled me to put into practice my ability to be able to see myself as others want to see me and enable me to regulate my behavior. However, on writing this topic I realized that receiving positive, negative, or constructing feedback has developed skills and has boosted my confidence about my working strategies.
3.
Providing feedback is necessary for the learning process. As a leader, I find myself rather competent while providing feedback. Timing is an important factor for a leader when giving feedback. I provide feedback to my team members as soon as one of them has shown good performance. It lets my team believe in my credibility and builds trust. I try to be specific while providing feedback and avoid general statements that make it strictly about work.
Also, my response to my teammates is impactful because I tell them about how their good performance ties to the bigger picture like reaching the goals of the department.

5.
I will know if am getting more competent or not by the quality of work and by the behavioral change my team would show after receiving feedback. Level of creativity and developed skills, completion of the goals, and directed and motivated behavior represented by my team after receiving feedback would help me understand that I am acting in proving feedback that is constructive and also effective.
6.
Feedback is important for me as I think that every leader needs a communication path with his employees. To function properly this communication should be open and frequent. Feedback is an essential for leaders to accomplish their objectives and be successful in their roles, and that is why I would like to work on this particular skill of a leader.
The main idea behind providing feedback is to promote motivation and positively changed behavior. The positive feedback always encourages a person to keep behaving in a certain manner that is required and motivate his or her behavior. The timely, constructive, and positive response can be much cost effective way of learning for individuals. Feedback directs people to perform better and put more effort to reach their goals that in turn help the leader to perform better for the organization.
Coaching, counseling, and mentoring
1.
I chose this topic because of the importance of the coaching, counseling and mentoring in the leadership skills. Coaching can unlock the existing gifts and skills of an individual, mentoring are the quality of the wisdom, and counseling supports the individual while he or she is facing a personal crises. In my opinion coaching is the skill of a leader that makes it smoother for a team to develop the work skills and enhances person’s insight. I believe that counseling provides clarified options in personal crises. For a person to who is to be coached, well a state of mind and spirit is necessary, and that is what is being focused on during counseling. However, mentoring an employee or a team member teases out the talent of successful judgment that is used to achieve the aims and goals set by the leader or organization.
2. After reading about this particular component of the skills a leader should possess in order to lead a successful team I learnt that if I as an employee get coaching, counseling, and also mentoring from my leader then it will influence me to create productive and motivated behavior and would draw out optimal personal impact and would help me develop my skills and hidden talent.
3. I find myself rather strong in the area of coaching and mentoring a person. Through coaching, I find myself able to help an individual develop plans on the personal level and then achieve the goals set to complete those plans successfully. I can mentor and counsel a teammate to help him develop the wisdom to carry out the work that is assigned to him to complete it the way it is needed.

However, at the same time when a leader is involved in coaching, counseling and mentoring the employees, it is important to ensure that each of the decision taken are free from personal judgment and biases. 5.
However, to identify competency in coaching, counseling and mentoring as a leader. It can mainly be traced when the issues that were raised previously are effectively managed. Acquiring knowledge and the performance of employees at workplace and implementation of effective strategies enables individual to be more competent. The competency can be traced if the employee is effectively work in the challenging situation and can achieve short and long-term organizational goals working collaboratively with other employees in partnership. The other main factor involves the mutual trust and respect as well as developing one on one interaction.
