Q1 Answer
Women and men to some extent lead in the same way but to a small extent they differ. It is worth noting that women in the high-level management of an organization lead the same as they male counterparts. The positions they hold at that level dictate how to lead to promote success. As a matter of fact, leadership in the high level of management is subject to various actions and behaviors which impel the leaders whether women or men to comply. Such compliance makes the two gender sides lead the same way.
However, there is also a significant difference between how women and men lead in organizations. Many women leaders show great concern for promoting care for the employees. They are also empathetic and more responsive in handling the operations of the organization. However, women are usually very moody something that plays a great role in their leadership. The mood swing affects their leadership positively and negatively. On the other hand, men leaders focus more on actions and tasks performance. They are more concern in executing the operations of the organization to realize success.
Women tend to emphasize on social welfare of the employees while the men emphasize on actions in duty performance. In my opinion, I feel that women leaders are better than men leaders. The reason behind this argument is that women stand a better chance of promoting social welfare, collaboration and conducive environment for working. They are better motivators than men and thus can influence their followers more positively than men thus enhancing success in their leadership.
Q2 Answer
Feminism to me entails the degree to which people advocate for women liberation and the focus to promote women rights in the workplace. It is clear that such advocacy lacks ground in many organizations due to men’s habit of being selfish. I feel that it is good to consider women in various roles as men in the organization as a move of fostering equality to all. Organization should create a conducive working environment that allows women to exercise their rights. In so doing, it will be possible for women to assume big roles in the organization.
Sandberg’s believe that the advocacy of women rights in the organization remain a great challenge. According to her, gender biasing remains of the barriers to promoting women rights in the workplace. For instance, she argues that very few women make it to the high position in the organization. Although men and women may have the same qualification but they climb the ladder of management at different rates. Men climb at a faster rate than women. This is clear evidence that the advocacy of women rights in the workplace remain a dream.
Besides, she feels that women are not given a chance to have a balance between their work and life. Women take part in executing the duties of the organization and at the same time they take charge of the home chaos. This is different on the side of men who will work the same in the organization like women but have less to do at home compared to their counterparts.
I do believe that many organizations and people do not support women’s leadership. Since time in memorial, the position of women in the society has been that of staying home and taking care of their husbands and children. Consequently, many women have not been able to acquire enough education to help them rise the ladder and become effective leaders. The perception about women should stay home still exists in the modern world. It is the main reason as to why many people feel that women can never make good leaders.
Women divide their attention to taking care of the job and at the same time take care of their children. Such issues make many people and organizations resist their leadership. Besides, women have cycles that force them not to take part in organization duties and responsibilities year in year out. For instance, women have to leave work for some time and go for their maternity leave. As a result, many organizations feel that women can never be efficient in leadership. The same reason compels many organizations to consider men in top positions.
