Martin Luther king structured a foundation which is very important in shaping global leadership as well as bridging the gap amongst people of various races ("Martin Luther King, Jr.", n.d.) Martin Luther king advocated for the rights of the black people at the time when the issue of racial discrimination was rampant in America. The black people or rather Negros as they were reoffered to face a lot of challenges in terms of being enslaved, treated brutally by the government, limited job opportunities, they were regarded as second class citizens and they were separate schools for the whites and the black people. Martin was a motivational and outspoken leader who had heard enough of the treatment given to the black people and formed a movement that would fight for the rights of the black. The movement spread all over the united states of which although it brought about the much-awaited change it led to massive loss of lives including the death of the movement’s founder Martin Luther King.
The Luther movement created a revolution that changed the mindset of many individuals especially those in leadership positions. In the current world leaders have become diverse and are open to ideas of change. Most of the black people are now in leadership and this has been received well by the majority of the citizens. Most of the leaders now live by the code of Martin’s works and this has helped in improving leadership not only in the government but in all aspects of leadership. The American leaders have continued to embrace the importance of civil rights as well as giving equal opportunities to people of all races.
Although the issue of job opportunities has been to a certain extent resolved, America still struggles with the issue of equal employment opportunities among women. The issue of steady employment is also a major factor, most people have part-time jobs which make it very unreliable to sustain themselves and their families. The civil rights that martin Luther championed for the need to be implemented especially now by the candidates who are running for the presidency in order to create a sustainable income for the American citizens which in turn will lead to stable economic growth and a decrease in crime.
The works of Martin have paved a way for an amicable and peaceful way of solving problems that might result amongst people. In his book a letter from Birmingham jail (n.d.) the need for peaceful demonstrations and representation of people by integral and intellectual leaders was necessitated by the inspirations of Martin Luther King in his journey as an activist. In the current times, we have seen nations being rocked by political instability of which Martin Luther King’s activities brought about social, political and economic change, the leaders ought to emulate and learn from Martin.
In conclusion, the works of martin Luther play a significant role in our today lives. Countries are often rocked by various kinds of instabilities which relate to the civil rights that Martin Luther championed. America has exhibited a great change since the civil rights movement which has played a great role in uniting all American citizens despite the race. Although some of the changes have been met the country still struggles with various minute issues which can be only solved with guidance from the works of Martin Luther.
