LinkedIn is a social and professional networking service. It is business-oriented and was founded in 2002 and launched on May 2003. The site acquires its funds from selling information access to various users who include the sales professionals and recruiters in the market. LinkedIn is available in 24 languages and operates in over 200 countries having over four hundred million users.
LinkedIn has had its share of misfortunes resulting from insecurity. Previously, there was a reported episode where user passwords were stolen by hackers, commonly known as the 2012 LinkedIn hack. To curb such incidences, the site has to ensure that each user has an added two-factor authentication. This factor ensures that the user accounts are inaccessible to hackers. Message systems can also be used to make sure that LinkedIn is capable of handling significant happenings, emails, notifications and profile views.
There is the need for linked in to ensure that it maintains and also increases its profits. To ensure that this is attained Jeff Weiner, the CEO of LinkedIn, borrowed an idea inspired by Facebook by the name “economic graph.” This is aimed at guiding LinkedIn for a decade in creating a world map of the world economy. Data nodes such as jobs, companies, and institutional educational systems are used to build the company’s current platform. Also, this graph will reflect all the job listings and the nonprofit and profit companies. This kind of information will ensure that LinkedIn remains efficient and highly transparent a characteristic that will attract more users hence increase the company’s profits.
In conclusion, LinkedIn has helped many professionals get equipped with information. The company is at the forefront of ensuring that it improves its service through quality control and improved security. Through these approaches, LinkedIn will ensure that its profit margin is maintained or better yet increased.
