Respected Sir,
I have decided to open a barista in our neighborhood as it is a populous area and there are not many coffee shops and cafes anywhere nearby. Therefore, I visited a certain number of coffee shops in the city to understand and compare their features. It is a good opportunity for investing in such a business because there are few chances of failure. I need a good space which can be extended over time and need to give it a trendy and welcoming look, which will target all kinds of customers, of all age groups in order to keep the business running. It must have a clean atmosphere, and the staff needs to be experienced and cooperative. Moreover, the barista needs to preserve and uphold all measures of hygiene and cleanliness, in the kitchens, toilets and the general sitting area for customers.
My trip included visiting coffee shops in a busy area of the city which were placed at small distances from each other, amidst some shops and offices. One thing common between them all was the provision of a seating arrangement outside and glass windows on the front to allow customers to see inside. There was not enough parking space as the shops took up most of it, so one had to walk to the place. Almost all of them had a considerable number of customers inside. The signboards for all coffee shops were prominent and clearly visible. There were security guards allotted to all of them. The environment inside was warm and welcoming for some of them. The baristas at one of the coffee places were very quick and responsive and worked efficiently. Some places had a diverse menu while others’ was limited. The coffees on the menu were good and priced almost the same at each place.
What I learned from this experience was that a good barista needed to provide comfort to the people. Once inside they should feel lively and forget their worries for a while. The security situation is usually satisfactory at all coffee houses. One could improve parking facility by getting some extra space and perhaps charge for it. The cost for space can be recuperated with the parking fee. It is a good investment when an experienced and friendly staff is hired, and they satisfy the customer.
In the conclusion, this business trip validated a few considerations of mine such as putting in a good investment for setting up a nice place with cutting edge facilities. Moreover, the better the facilities, the higher will be the customer response. Marketing is key. Therefore I intend to use social media as well as the conventional print media as a tool. Hopefully, this venture will be fruitful once it is executed.
