Introduction to Case
I am moving to Kitchener-Waterloo and am considering where to live. I have two young children (aged 5 and 7). I want to consider the quality of the local schools to zero down on an area. I don’t know anyone in the local area and am restricted to use the information available on the internet in my analysis.
Indicators for Selection
The number of students belonging from different backgrounds enhances the social development of a child. Attaining above average marks in reading, writing, and mathematics is an important criterion for education and logical development of a child. These criteria have been considered in selection. The educational target for the province is 6. Any school which rates above this standard is considered to be a good school .
The indicators selected to finalize a school includes ranks, academic performance, special needs, ranking consistency over past five years, enrolments, tests below standard, gender gaps, tests not written and ESL (English as Secondary Language). These criteria are good indicators of the performance of school since it indicates overall educational standard, ranking and consistency in educational standards over years. It also considers another criterion like special needs, gender gaps, and ESL. These help in the holistic and social development of the child.
Comparison Table of Indicators
Selected School
The school selected after considering these criterions is Laurelwood (Public), Waterloo.
