Frontispiece: Wooden Baby Crib (KC-C002)(Reproduced from Made-in-China.com)
Note: The frontispiece figure above is for illustrative purposes only; the crib for which the following instructions apply may differ in detail from that shown.
Introduction
First ensure that you have read and understood the included safety and care information, and have also read the preliminary information to ensure that you have all the components and the tools required, then follow the provided detailed assembly instructions carefully, to make sure that the crib will be properly and securely assembled.
Please note that these assembly instructions apply to one design of wooden crib. In the event that the detail in any of the included Figures conflicts with the written instructions, those written instructions take precedence.
Safety and Care Information
Safety: Read the following carefully before going any further:
- If any parts of the crib are damaged or missing, do not attempt to assemble it, or to use substitutes. Contact the retailer or manufacturer for replacement.
- Tighten fittings securely but do not use excessive force. Check that the crib is correctly and securely assembled on completion.
- Site the completed crib away from items such as cords for drapes or blinds, which could present a danger to the occupant of the crib.
- Ensure that any mattress used fits snugly into the length and width available inside the crib. Gaps around the edges can be dangerous for the baby occupying the crib. Use mattresses no thicker than 6 inches. Do not use water mattresses.
- Never use plastic film, etc to protect the mattress; such items can be inadvertently used to cause asphyxiation.
- When the young occupant is able to reach a standing position, ensure that the mattress base is set to its lowest position, and that crib contains no large toys, etc that could be used as “steps” to climb out.
- When the baby reaches an age/height where it is almost able to climb out of the crib, it is dangerous to use the crib any further.
Care: This crib is manufactured from solid, natural wood. Please take note of the following to ensure your new crib lasts for a very long time:
- There will be natural variations in shade and grain patterns between the different parts; this is not a fault.
- The crib is best situated out of direct sunlight which can over time adversely affect any finish applied to the wood.
- Weekly light cleaning with an approved furniture polish will preserve its finish. Otherwise, clean with a damp soft cloth to remove any marks.
- In the event you decide at some time in the future to re-finish the crib, be sure to use only a non-toxic medium certified safe for children.
- In the event of local damage to the wooden parts, use fine sandpaper or similar to smooth the surface again, to avoid possible injury to the occupant, or damage to its clothing/bedding.
- Periodically check all fixings for tightness after extended use, to avoid possible hazards arising from loose or detached parts.
Preliminary Information
- Before you start assembly of the crib:
- Check that you have all the required parts and accessories (see list);
- Check that the necessary basic tools required (flat blade and Phillips screwdrivers and an adjustable wrench), are all to hand;
Note: You may also find a rubber mallet useful, though it is not essential.
- Check that you have sufficient clear floor space for the crib assembly, ideally in the room where the crib will be permanently located and used. If that is not possible, ensure that if the crib is assembled elsewhere it will – in its fully-assembled form – have clear passage to that location, including being able to pass through the doorway of the room where it is to be finally located.

Assembly Instructions
Note: These assembly instructions are based on the Angelina Crib model by StorkCraft.
Step 1: Fit the Mattress Base Brackets (G & H) onto the Mattress Base (E).
Figure 1: Fitting the Mattress Base Brackets(Reproduced from Angelina Crib instructions)
- On a flat surface, position the mattress base supports (F), see Figure 1, so that they are positioned to be at either long edge of the mattress base (E);
- Position the mattress base (E) on top of them as illustrated in Figure 1, with the Warning label upwards, ensuring the corner holes in each part are aligned above each other;
- Fit the four mattress base brackets (G x 2 & H x 2) to the mattress base (E) and mattress base supports (F), using bolts (R), with the hooked ends of the brackets facing out, as shown in the Figure;
- Fit a lock washer (V) and acorn nut (U) to each bolt (R). Tighten, using a flat blade screwdriver and adjustable wrench. (Do NOT over-tighten).
Step 2: Assemble the Drop Side Rail (C).
Figure 2: Assembly of Drop Side Rail(Reproduced from Angelina Crib instructions)
- Support the headboard (A) on its two legs against the wall, with the plastic components (inside face) towards you;
- Position the drop side rail (C) just above the headboard (A) upper and lower T-rails (I & J) with the plastic teething rail upright;
- Fit the drop side rail (C) upper and lower claws (L & M) onto the headboard upper and lower T-rails (I & J);
- Now lower (C) until you can see, hear, and feel it lock in position;
- Repeat the above procedure to assemble the footboard (B) and drop side rail (C). You now have the crib’s two ends and one side assembled.
Step 3: Assembling the Mattress Base (E) to the Crib.
Figure 3: Assembling the Mattress Base to the Crib(Reproduced from Angelina Crib instructions)
Note: Step 3 will is more easily accomplished by two persons.
- Take the mattress base with the Warning label facing up (as Step 1), and install it between the crib headboard (A) and the footboard (B);
IMPORTANT NOTE: For Step 3b, use the highest positioned set of holes when installing the mattress base for a newborn or very young baby. As the baby gets older, progressively lower the mattress base to ensure the occupant cannot climb out of the crib;
- As shown in the inset view of Figure 3, fit four ¼” x 5/8” bolts (Q) and lock washers (V) through the holes on the inside faces of the headboard (A) and footboard (B). (The holes are pre-fitted with nut inserts in both headboard and footboard). Caution: Do NOT over-tighten the bolts.
Step 4: Assembling the Stationary Side Rail (D) to the Crib.
Figure 4: Assembling the Stationary Side Rail (D) to the Crib(Reproduced from Angelina Crib instructions)
- Into each of the four holes of the stationary side rail (D), insert a barrel nut (T) from below, orientated so that the threaded insert will face the pre-drilled hole from the end of the rail, to receive a bolt (S);
- With the stationary side rail (D) positioned between the headboard (A) and the footboard (D), insert four long bolts (S) through the headboard (A) and footboard (B) into the ends of the rails;
- When all four bolts are located and partially inserted, and engaging with the threads of the previously-installed barrel nuts, use the Phillips screwdriver to tighten the four bolts evenly. (Do NOT over-tighten);
- Now turn the crib onto its side on the floor, with the four “feet” facing you;
- Firmly insert a caster into each caster sleeve (push fit);
- Now turn the crib upright once again. Check that crib stands evenly on all four casters. If not, apply downward pressure from the top corners of the headboard (A) and footboard (B) to ensure all four casters are fully located into the legs of the crib;
- The crib is now completely assembled and ready to receive its mattress, bedding, and new occupant!
Conclusions
Assembly of the crib as described above is quite straightforward so long as the instructions – in conjunction with the included Figures – are followed methodically. The written instructions with supporting drawings should be unambiguous, requiring only basic tools and minimal mechanical aptitude, so that the entire assembly process should take less than an hour from start to finish. It is however, important to take care and not rush the sequence of tasks. Whilst the finished crib is quite safe and secure if properly assembled, careless or incorrect assembly could cause the crib to be an unsafe and/or dangerous environment for a baby / young child.
