The focus group meeting was held on October 2nd at 10:45 am at ERAU, Collage of Business. The participants involved one female and five males both on their twenties. The group was highly motivated by the group leader with each member willing to participate positively. At the end of the meeting, participants had learnt the ability to involve the client personnel in the research process, the ability of group participants to interact with each other and the level of participant involvement in the research.
Buyer characteristics affect how a buyer will decide on the choice of whether to buy or not. Buyer characteristic may include gender, social standing, personality and age. These characteristics affect consumer purchasing behavior directly. Buying behavior is the processes and actions of people involved in the purchasing and usage of products. It can also be described as the way people tend to react when purchasing goods or services. Buyers tend to show different behaviors when purchasing different goods and services. Buyer decision making process is a large process where the buyer identifies the goods, consider its merits and demerits, hence deciding on whether to buy or not. These stages include: problem recognition; information research; alternative review; purchase decision and post-purchase behavior. Various factors affect buyer decision and these include personal factors, psychological factors and social factors.
With such knowledge of buyer characteristic, buyer behavior and buyer decisions, one is able to determine his or her target group in the market more easily leading to increased sale and lowering of market costs by the firm. This results in efficiency hence profitability. With knowledge of customers tastes and preferences to products, producers are in a position to tailor make the products to suite each target group. The goods produce will be of a higher quality and suited to its very need. This results in objectivity in production hence maximizing of profit in the long due to increase in sales.
Focus groups are the best way to conduct studies as with determination from all participants, student tend to gain more knowledge as information is shared by different people increasing on the amount of knowledge being offered at a time. The serene outdoor environment of the collage provided a suitable atmosphere for reading as compared to the normal routine of classes and libraries. Use of a different approach to reading improved the morale of the participants changing their attitude towards the course resulting in increased participation by members hence understanding of the course work well.
Different buyers have different needs, hence different behaviors, characteristics hence different consumer decisions. This implies that firms should invest wisely on their marketing department, employing qualified people who are in a position to carry out market research extensively and grouping the market into relevant categories and identifying their target group appropriately. Profit maximizing firms tend to invest well in the marketing department so as to increase their returns as maximally as possible.
In abstract, consumer knowledge is of outmost importance as this entails a very important strategy in realization of profits in the long run. Each firm should at least have a market department with qualified employees to be certain of profits n matter the completion at hand.
