Introduction
The year 2016 will witness the emergence of new trends and thoughts on a wide array of subjects. The essay looks at the current trends in the industry of Graphic design regarding media and developments, the material being used, the changing technology and printing and new media coming up. Current trends in Graphic design
Animation and motion graphics will be given ample emphasis. The animation is a really important aspect when it comes to the video watching experience of the viewer. It is expected that animation will be used increasingly in websites as it makes it more appealing and attractive. Many young designers who have recently graduated, are now working independently and for themselves. Adobe Creative Cloud is a software that helps these young and creative minds to work independently. 2016 will see the incorporation of more than one primary colors and this trend will be very popular everywhere this year (Aszman 2015). Before the advent of these advanced technologies, everything was done in the traditional way. The year 2016 will witness the revival of old traditions, and the artists will now use paper for drawing and painting.
Materials to be used
The graphic design company has some serious impacts on the environment because of the excessive use of energy, paper, and ink. These materials have the following impacts on the environment, for example, paper. It is not just about the felling of trees that tell us about its impact but also the machinery and fuel that are involved in the various stages. They release pollutants like Volatile Organic Compounds which pollutes the environment (Sustainability in graphic and web design 2015). Some inks and solvents are harmful to the environment as they may contain some harmful substances that cause a severe impact on the environment. These toxic substances are mainly lead, barium, and cadmium. Some printers emit harmful substances that pollute the environment through air and water. The design for the web also determines if it has an adverse impact on the environment or not. Usually, white texts on a black background are easy to read on the web, but it wastes much ink that pollutes the environment and affects the health.
Software and hardware in Graphic design
Graphic designing has emerged as a new way to express thoughts and ideas by combining text and visualization to produce something that is attractive and informative at the same time. Software and hardware are used to make graphic designs. Regarding computer, software is something that is not visually present, i.e. you cannot see it but it plays a major role in proper functioning of an apparatus (McKinley 2013). Graphic designers rely upon software like Adobe Photoshop. Designing is heavily dependent upon software as the quality of the image depends on upon an efficient software. Hardware is a component of the computer that you can see and feel as they are physically present. There are two types of hardware: input devices and output devices. You use hardware to produce a design. Input devices include scanners, cameras, and graphic tablets. Output devices include printers, monitors, and plotters.
Printing and Production
The printing industry is one of the biggest platforms that help in providing information. We have come a long way from writing on stone walls to printing on paper and other materials using advanced technologies. Many new techniques have emerged like digital printing, and specialist printing and other new types. Lithography means writing the text on the surface on our own using lithographic limestone. It was invented in 1796. We have come a long way from applying litho printing to more advanced forms of printing. Digital Printing is available to us since 1995, and it has successfully replaced litho printing (Knowledge Framework - Understanding the Printing Industry 2013). It is very popular as it is cost efficient and profitable for printing houses. Waterless printing as a Specialist Printing is really effective as it saves a lot of water and ink, so it is also cost effective. Other new technologies and development include the production of new types of paper and print portals.
