Japan, a well-developed country, which is geographically located in East Asia, between North Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Japan, is one of the most influential countries in Continent of Asia. Many Western Countries are well developed as well like The United States, Australia and other European Countries. In response to the question if Japan is a Western, well the answer is yes. Geographically, Japan is not even located near those of Western Countries, but if we are going to look at it based on how the country’s Economic Status, it is very Western-like country. That is because they consolidated their form of government and changed it a bureaucratic one. They also reinvented their society that very much look like Western Europe and The United States, that is a much highlighted turn point. And, in addition, they also wanted to get rid of the typical old Japanese Shoguns way and leveled up to being stronger; they even changed their Economic and Banking System, almost everything was changed to Western Image.
There are also some ways why Japan is like countries in North America or Europe. Japan still has a Royal family which headed by an Emperor. This monarch started thousand years ago, the Emperor serves to be the Master or the Boss, another powerful person underneath the Emperor would be the Duke, and underneath these Dukes are the Lords and of course, the least powerful which the peasant. This kind of monarch structure is almost the same as with the medieval Europe. That’s one thing that Japan and Europe are similar in. Aside from similarity of Japan with Europe, it is also somewhat similar with The United States. In terms of economy, Japan is one of the leading countries within Asia and also, one of the strongest most stable economies in the whole world. Just like the Unites States, Japan has the same economic strategy. As a matter of fact, the United States forcibly opened a trade in Japan. That started economic partnership between the two Giants, and it also made Japan as somehow Western-like country. Hence, it was very historical that it was the Americans who went over to Japan to establish such partnership.
Japan is an outstanding country in terms of cultural, power, and economy. Just like The United States, Japan has competitors when it comes to economy. More jobs and investors were in The United States before, though there are still many of them are in the US, some investors are taking their businesses to South America because of lower labor cost thus, producing the quantity and quality of the product, for instance, Car Manufacturing. Same with Japan, which some investors were taking their businesses to the neighboring countries like Indonesia, Korea and China that doesn’t have an extensive minimum wage law. This maybe the reason that the class did not include Latin America, but Japan is so that we can focus on how Japan went to being a Western-liked country. Japan as geographically located in an earthquake prone part of the earth, experiences a lot of massive movement of the grounds. In fact, an earthquake devastated the country in 2011.
Thousands of Japanese died from that horrifying event. Millions of dollars worth of infrastructures were demolished. One more important thing is that the Tokyo stock exchange and Japan as a whole has a great amount of foreign investment, foreign currency, and bank reserves which were also affected by the earthquake. So, if it happens that another terrible earthquake would shut this country’s economy down, the whole world will be affected and possible recession might arise. As one of the most developed country in Asia, Japanese quickly responded in rebuilding infrastructure, and even investing in alternative energies versus importing sources of energies from the outside countries. Government’s contingency plans worked smoothly along with the help of neighboring Asian countries when most of Japan’s resources were in trouble. China was one of the countries who provided help immediately. The country offered millions in aid and equipment to help the devastated Japan. And, with the help from the other countries, Japan once again rose and will continue to rise even though China is the number one in Asia.
