Domestic violence has emerged to be one of the devastating pathological issues in contemporary society. Despite the ongoing debate and policies to control domestic violence, it remains a part of the community. In the present document, analysis of a new article “Far From Campus, a Different Kind of Violence Against Women” (Bellafante, 2010) published in the New York Times is briefly explained using media article guidelines.
The article was published on June 10, 2016, that shares the information related to a Michelle Marks, who has been sexually assaulted by her ex-partner in past few years. The couple has been reported with such cases for more than three times which is on record with the police. Michelle has been shot to death near to Albany house, to which a day before her death she reported to the police that she was assaulted by her boyfriend when she was grabbing groceries. The emerging of domestic disputes has led to the partners take actions such as killing which has become a devastating phase of the society (Bellafante, 2010).
Analyzing the content of the article, it could be noted that the message delivered in the article is in the descriptive form and shares brief information on the incidence. The related causes are still mentioned a causal cause for the domestic violence in the couple. However, the author of the article has put forward additional information that makes the message invoking. It includes the inclusion of the criticism of the government and law enforcement agencies.
Moreover, it could be indicated that the general audience of the article is the public and also government officials and law enforcement agencies that do not look upon on the deployment of more law-enforcement officers in certain regions. The information shared about the incidence lack supportive information that would make the case clearer. There is less information regarding the personal issues that invoked domestic violence.
The tone of the author in the article is clear and neutral that suggests that the article lacks ambiguity and bias of opinion. There is additional information that is shared in the article to highlight and gain the attention of the public and government officials to take notice of incidences of domestic violence that are increasing and suggest that domestic violence is becoming an uncontrollable problem. It can be said highlighted the article shares information in a straightforward manner that is clear to understand. There is no such manipulation by the author sharing the information. However, if the article could have covered other related issues that need more explanation to understand the context of the incidence.
The new article shares precise information about the article about the case, but it shares more brief information related to the overall occurrence of domestic violence in the country, regions, and cities. However, the article and ends with the question that generates a provoking attitude among the readers. Moreover, the information shared in the article puts the question on feminism and war against man that indicates that the information provided in the article depicts symbolism to some extent.
