Networking
Today there are more than 130 million computers and more than 80% of them are combined in various information and computer networks from small local networks in offices to global networks such as the Internet. Global trend towards unification of the computers on the networking is conditioned on a number of important reasons,
I chose this topic because it is one of the most relevant in our time. Modern people, especially people in positions of leadership should not only know but also feel about it. After all, modern business is simply not possible without high technology and, in particular, computer networks which significantly increase the profits of enterprises and organizations. So I hope to know a more precise definition and meaning of networking and share it with the class.
If the physical connection is formed by two or more computers, that networking will be arisen. In general, the creation of computer networks requires special hardware (network equipment) and special software (network software). The simplest connection of two computers to communicate is called a direct connection.
The specific standards functions to ensure the necessary compatibility of both the hardware and program computer networks, which are called protocols. They determine the nature of the interaction of the hardware components of the networking (hardware protocols) and the nature of interaction between programs and data (software protocol). Physical functions of protocol support are performed by hardware devices (interfaces) and software (protocol support programs). Programs, which perform protocol support, are often referred to protocols too. For example, if two computers are interconnected by a direct connection, then the physical layer protocol interactions determine their specific physical device port (serial or parallel) and mechanical components (connectors, cable, and so on. N.). At a higher level of interaction between computers determines the software that controls the transfer of data. At the highest level, the communicational protocol provides the operating system application.
There are five main types of computer networks:
Personal Area Network (PAN);
Local Area Network (LAN);
Metropolitan Area Network (MAN);
Wide Area Network (WAN);
Internetwork (Internet).
A Personal Area Network (PAN) is a network built around a person. Data networks are designed to combine all personal electronic user devices (phones, pocket personal computers, smart phones, laptops, wireless headsets, etc.). It is created for the connection and collaboration of two or more computing devices owned by one user (person). PAN is built and operates without adherence to rules of IP Protocol data transmission, and without assigning connected devices and network IP addresses.
The Local Area Network (LAN) is the joint connection of several individual computer workstations (desktops) to a single data channel. Owing to computer networks, we got the opportunity to simultaneous use of software and databases by multiple users. The concept of a local area network refers to a geographically limited (geographically or industrially) hardware and software implementations, in which several computer systems connect to each other by appropriate means of communication. With this connection, the user can interact with other workstations connected to the LAN.
The Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) connects computers within a city, it is a network of size smaller than a WAN but larger than a LAN. MAN often acts as a high speed network to allow use of regional resources in common (similar to a large LAN). It is also often used to provide a public connection to other networks using a WAN link with.
The Wide Area Network (WAN) is a computer network, which covers a large area and includes a large number of computers. WAN serves to consolidate the disparate networks so that users and computers, wherever they may be, can communicate with all other members of the global network. It is designed for unlimited number of subscribers and uses, as a rule, low-quality communication channels and low transmission speed, that’s why it is different from the LAN.
For wide area network we should include the Internet. At the moment it is the only network of the entire state. Currently, Internet is not a set of direct connections between computers. For example, if the two computers are on different continents, exchanging data on the Internet, it does not mean that one direct connection acts between the two. The data, which they send to each other, is divided into packets, and even in a single communication session packets of different messages can go by different routes. The data, which are sent later, may come before, but it does not hurt to collect the document correctly, because each package has its own marking.
In conclusion I would like to say that I have long heard about this topic, but always wanted to know everything in details. And the information that I found helped me a lot. I found the answers to my questions.
I am pleased with this resource, and for example, 10-point scale, I rated it at 8 points. I think this is a high score, because this information is very useful and informative.
