Pablo Picasso has for many years remained the most famous artist. He was a Spanish genius artist who earned infinite recognition across the globe in the twentieth century art. Picasso was an innovative painter who came up with astounding works arts which are now reserved in museums. Nevertheless, his competitiveness in this field came from his wide knowledge and capability of incorporating different styles. Pablo tried his best to become a great artist and therefore opted to leave Barcelona and moved to Paris which was the capital of arts in Europe.
Interestingly, some of the wonderful and adorable works of art of Pablo are reserved in the New York Museum of Modern Art. Some of these include the three musicians, the girl before the mirror, the old guitarist, the seated woman, Dora Maar au chat, the blue nude, the dream, asleep, the Les Demoiselles d’ Avignon and many others.
In this paper, I wish to refer to one of Pablo’s work of art, the Les Demoiselles. These paintings were published in 1907 and were regarded as the most innovative works of art by Picasso. This was a perfect epitome of cubism. In the Les Demoiselles paintings, the backgrounds and the forms are deconstructed and thoroughly analyzed. On the other hand, the natural forms are smartly reduced to the sharp planes, angles and various geometric shapes. Although at around 1907 Pablo had started producing works of art of female nudes, the quality of his paintings continued to prove his general expertise in painting. The Les Demoiselles paintings corresponded to the prostitutes in Barcelona. These paintings have implemented all the elements of art as well as the principles of organization. Alternatively, the materials and surfaces are contributing to the concept of the work. This is evidenced by Pablo’s incorporation of unpredictable patterns that he uses to decorate the nude females. In addition, the planes of the curtains, backgrounds and the angles are hardly distinguishable from one another.
It is absolutely true that the Les Demoiselles paintings have achieved organic unity. Pablo had used his wit to make sure that the above property exists. In these paintings, color tones are different but there is no other distinguishing property between the angles, backgrounds and the planes of the curtains.
This work of art by Pablo is aesthetically pleasing. The Les Demoiselles reflect a true picture of Barcelona prostitutes. However, critics in the past have regarded this as primitive art. Conversely, in my opinion, I regard it as fine art because it has served the purpose intended by Picasso. Taking into consideration that the artist was from Barcelona, I tend to think that he was using this type of art to convey a certain message to the society. Like any other type of artist, Picasso used paintings when he wanted to convey a certain message to his audience. Supposing he was a musician, perhaps he could have produced a song to condemn the prostitution at his home in Barcelona.
Conclusively, it can be asserted that Pablo Picasso achieved the intended purpose for his art. Furthermore, he produced hundreds of works of art each with a purpose. For instance, as discussed earlier, Pablo used the Les Demoiselles to condemn prostitution in Barcelona.
