I prefer the baroque architectural style. Baroque design has attractive features. The curves of the building are determined by circles. The walls are undulating and have concave and convex spaces that are alternating. Light is appropriately applied in the design of the building, and there is great contrast that differentiates light from shadow. The categories of building columns used are solominic. The domes have external ribs and the staircases have interior and exterior staircases that are detailed. Beauty of the design is enhanced through the use of elaborate ornament and illusionistic paintings. There is great integration involving sculpture, painting and also architecture. In the central European regions, the domes are pear-shaped (Rondanini, 2014).
The Palace of Versailles shows an impressive French Baroque design style. Palace of Versailles has Hall of Mirrors. The windows in the hall are placed opposite the mirrors so as to reflect sufficient light in the space. Light has thus been appropriately taken into consideration inside the building. There is a great contrast between the light along the walls of the building and the shadows along the hallway.
The palace also shows solominic columns along the hallway (Rondaninin, 2014). The columns are seen along the walls of the hallway. The rooftop of the hallway is semi-circular in shape and it is a common feature among the baroque design. Painting, architecture and sculpture are properly integrated in the design of the building. All the sculpture are golden in color and hold beautifully designed chandeliers that generate light at night. A lot of painting has been used in the design. The floor and roof of the hallway are dark brown, while white and silver is used to illustrate light in the building (Venturi, 2015).
