Gun regulation by explanation is the guidelines; directives as well as recommendations that are envisioned to restrain and limit the public possession and the usage of all sorts of firearms. All around the world, different countries and states have articulated their own strategies and measures that are designed and intended at regulating their citizens from the ownership as well as usage of guns. In the United Kingdom for example, their regulations are very strict against their people owning guns. In the United States on the other hand, their regulations are somewhat unassertive when it comes to the issue of people possessing guns. It is consequently a subject that has continued and persisted to be of extreme debate in most countries whereby exponents contend the susceptibilities of predominant gun possession and the challengers arguing on the individual rights of self-defense. This paper will be endeavoring at elucidating a bipartisan agreement that can be possible to create fair and acceptable gun laws and regulations.
Lately, there has been an upsurge of violence in schools as well as in the streets and one has no need to go into specifics to jog once awareness for it is so true and obvious. A gun is well known and esteemed by everyone is exceedingly powerful for it can cause devastation, injury as well as death (Applebome, 116). That is factual and accurate not only physically but socially. Due these raising criminal happenings in majority of states that permit the public ownership of guns, it has necessitated the bipartisan agreements on gun ownership that are fair and the measures if instigated will go a long way in the reinforcement of the current regulations on the gun ownership and in the process violence will decline. The agreements will as well help eliminate the misplaced notion and conception that implementing the gun regulation policies and procedures will be interfering with the citizens’ rights and freedoms and in the long last eliminating the feeling of being restricted as citizens (Lott, 87). There are several of such bipartisan agreements that have been created that are fair and acceptable and some of them do include but are not limited to the ones elucidated beneath.
In their recommendation also, it was recommended and agreed that the possession of semiautomatic assault gun by all the citizens was burned. This can be noted to be the kind of assault gun that was used by Adam to kill his victims at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newton. This it did by also giving examples of all the gun types that were categorized as the semiautomatic as well as listing the several guns bearing that name (Hemenway, 104-105). The recommendations as well stated that the citizens were to be allowed to keep the banned guns that were already in their possession but only if they will submit to the new gun regulations procedures and protocols. It also made it very clear in the same recommendation that future sales of the semiautomatic guns were to be verboten and outlawed to the public and additionally, a current possessor could donate a gun to a close family member only. Such clear were the recommendations that they equally gave directions of the sale of owned guns whereby, it was recommended that one could sell it only to qualified and accredited weapons trader.
The legislators being firm supporters of the Second Amendment did pass what a large populace is saying to be the most all-inclusive gun regulation in the country’s history. The passed and agreed upon recommendations were in a position to separate the right of accountable- gun possessors from those irresponsible ones that have become so common (Damer, 89-90). It is due to their irresponsibility that several kids were killed as seen in the incident mentioned above as well as many innocent lives that have been lost in recent times. The reason that this legislator’s recommendations can be said to be fair and acceptable is that, some of the community members that did comprise of the committee that was formulated after the Sandy shootings accepted them. He concluded that the recommendations were okay and that they were heartened to see a bipartisan settlement that could be welcomed as a model for the country (Haigh, 124). With those agreements on the fair and acceptable gun regulations policies and procedures, it was believed that there could be transformed national discourse around issues of gun responsibility among others issues. All those were meant to respect and uphold the rights and privileges that the Second Amendment confers and bequeaths on all the citizens of the country.
In conclusion therefore, it is evident from the above elucidation that it is while in the process of passing these recommendations that the Demarcates and Republicans were able to strappingly and comprehensively come to an agreement. That did indicate the weight with which the matter was given and its importance. Thanks to the Sandy Hook School shooting, the gun regulation recommendations were advocated for leading to the formulation of new solutions to the problem of gun violence. The legislators stood up and did their part and as a result, new gun regulation policies are in place assuring the public that similar incident will never happen again in the country. Through that, the affected families and communities from the shooting as well as the whole public did see the weight with which the issues were handled. Through the recommendations as it has been very clearly elucidated in this paper, a bipartisan agreement was reached whereby both the exponents and challengers of this topic that has been debated for a long time agree and conclude that the gun regulations that had been created are fair. It is for that reason that both of the them did accept and agree on them giving the recommendations an opportunity to be applied and be followed by all the citizens without any of them feeling that his/her rights and freedoms had been overstep in the process.
