Introduction
There are many types of OD interventions that can be used to solve organizational problems. The OD intervention depends on the preference of the OD consultant and the efficiency of the intervention method. Even though, all OD intervention methods are applicable, practical and efficient, there are those that are popular and more efficient. This paper discusses the OD interventions that are most appealing.
This intervention method is preferred because it helps align the organization’s structures to the organizational objectives and strategies. In this method, the organization’s structure is simply restructured to be in sync with the objectives, culture and strategies.
Management objective and team building
This intervention method is popular because it involves organizational workers. Building teamwork towards achieving a common objective in an organization always leads to success. This is because team members feel appreciated and role allocation is always done clearly.
Goal setting and planning
This OD intervention method is preferred because of transparency and time management. Goal setting helps management determine the objectives it needs to achieve. It also outlines how the objectives will be achieved. This method is effective because it encourages organizations to adopt a system where only predetermined strategies are implemented. This creates certainty in the organization’s operations.
Survey feedback
This intervention method in OD involves seeking the opinion of all stakeholders in the organization. Therefore, all the strategies and plans will be in line with the opinions of stakeholders. Stakeholders support organizations that use the survey feedback because the employees feel that their opinions are valued.
Managerial grid
This intervention method of OD is effective and popular. The managers make decisions on behalf of the organization. The managers are specialists in OD and they make decisions after analyzing the situation or problem at hand. They then make an informed decision on the best way forward. This method is cheap, effective and saves time because few people are involved in decision making.
Conclusion
Therefore, there are OD intervention methods that OD consultants can advise their clients to use. However, the best methods are those that are practical, cheap, effective and easy to implement. The best OD intervention methods include managerial grid, structural interventions, survey feedback, goal setting and planning and management objectives and team building.
