The show is premised on the life and acting career of Mark Wahlberg. He represents his life with the use of other actors and showcases the people around him and the substantial role they played in his career. Mark chose to create a fictional show that was based in his as opposed to a reality show because of the impact on the audience. His past included a criminal, violent history that would have negatively impacted his audience and fans on his image (Michael, Todd, 34). The show is produced and aired on HBO and is a comedy-drama series. Vince, who is the main character, has a group of friends that showcase the life of Hollywood in its raw sense and give the audience a glimpse into the grayerside of the glamour.
The show is seen to be a project for the selling of Tequila Avion. Tequila Avion is hard not to notice and runs throughout the show. For instance, in the seventh season, the brand if flaunted and forms a theme for the whole season. From the way that the brand is represented, and its advantages over the usual tequila, an audience is indulged in learning more. The use of the brand is not coincidental in entourage. The creator of the series is Doug Ellin. Doug grew up with the one of the founders and partners of the tequila avion, Kenny Ditcher. Kenny and Ellin shared a childhood and did not hesitate to use that to their advantage in business. In this sense, the Tequila would help to brand the series and it would in turn market the liquor. Because of the relationship the two shared, there were no charges levied for the use of the brand in the series. The premise on branding that Doug Ellin used was the companies that had a direct affiliation to him or his personal life.
In the first season of entourage, Skyy vodka made a debut appearance that was very noticeable. The brand was used when the entourage of Vince was planning for his birthday party. The bottle was a shiny blue that was used by entourage. The branding worked well for the company who had a new variety of consumers and reached the target market. The premise for using the brand was the relationship that Ellin has with the CEO of the company who is a friend. The two even have businesses together, which is probably one of the reasons that the brand was aired. It is notable also that Skyy Vodka did not pay any charges when it came to the brand (Edgerton, Gary and Jeffrey, 83). The CEO suggested that they chose to work with the show on HBO, not because of the relationship with the producer, but because it provided the right audience. The entourage is based on the lives of a group of friends that appears to be rogue. The same is the kind of image that Skyy needed for its target audience. The brand is vodka, which is primarily associated with the kind of audience that is meant for entourage. The show depicts the Hollywood glamour in its richest and roughest forms. According to the CEO of Skyy Vodka, that was the audience that was intended for their brand. However, the show cites that it did not charge the company because it does not accept money and commercials in advertising. In the appearance of the Vodka, the way Turtle represented the brand could be accrued to advertising. The relationship between HBO, which is the parent company that produces entourage and Skyy Vodka, can be reflected in the use of the brand with other shows on the channel. Such shows include Soprano and Sex and the City.
The show has, therefore, branded itself through various products such as the two represented in the above analysis. The economic environment represented in the show is chronological. It showcases the struggles of the common folk and highlights a journey into stardom and money. In associating with the brands that are represented in the show, each brand has a particular entry point that depicts its affordability. For instance, the Tequila Avion is associated with class, fun and money. It is used when the characters in the show had money and therefore showcases the class of people for which it is intended. The second brand, on the other hand, is for the common fun person who wants to get drunk. The characters intended to show the audience that even the rich had struggles. The economy is represented as being tough on everybody because of the level of needs presented. The show also showcases that there are deep politics in Hollywood. The politics are associated with how the game is played for a person to become relevant in Hollywood. It highlights partnerships and signings that are based on deceit and calculation, just like the way real politics is played. The series target everybody. It is a comedy that can be used for entertainment purposes for young people. It involves aspects of big business that can benefit people who are involved in business. The methods of doing business are highlighted in the show and could interest an audience that is involved in that, for instance, good business techniques are showcased when Ari gold sells his movie to the studios CEO. The steps outlined in the selling of the movie could be used as a reference for those involved in business. The show is for everyone because it has a variety of issues that it represents.
