Introduction
The Great War began in 1914 and ended in 1918.The war involved the major world powers which had assembled into two blocs –the Triple Entete and the central powers. Countries under the Triple Entete included France, Russia and the United Kingdom. Central powers were composed of Italy, Germany and Austria-Hungary. The war is one of the biggest wars in human history. It involved millions of army men and was fought over very large geographical area.
This was marked the first steps towards using technology in war. Air technology made this war very aggressive and interesting as nations tried to out do each other in the air. This war saw sheer weapon and artillery creativity. Use f engine powered ships and aircrafts took order of the day during this war. The war was sparked by the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand in 1914.It was hardly over a decade when the Wright brothers made their second air travel at Kitty Hawk. From this period henceforth people started to understand use of aircrafts for military operations. Italy was the first power to use aircrafts at war in Libya against Turkey. Air war had not been advanced to automated air strikes; aircrafts were only used for dropping bombs and grenades. During the early years of the war, aircrafts were very few and small. However, towards the end of the war, there had been tremendous developments in aerial war. At this time more complex aircrafts were being employed in war. The Great War did not only promote the use of aircrafts in war but also marked an important point in aircraft technology. During this period many army personnel received aviation skills and knowledge.
Aviation and aircraft technology during the Great War made the war even more dreary and fatal. Air technology revolutionalized war. This technology resulted to untold damage of property and loss of lives.
