Bilingualism affects children learning capabilities in such that they lack understanding of a second language away from their mother tongue. When it comes to a language such as English, it is a challenge due to the psychological barriers hence, there is a challenge when settling in educational systems. Some of the causes of the problem are due to parents migrating to other countries, where their children are not able to settle and understand the new language.
Some of the previous studies show that once some of the families have moved to new areas, the main challenge is that the parents and kids may find it hard to understand the new language such as English and be fluent in talking (Sandoval et al.). The kids have the capability to learn English with ease, but this is crippled because their parents are not able to assist them in the process.
As shown in the review of previous studies, no research has been done concerning how to establish a mechanism to help parents develop a first understanding of the second language and teachers change their teaching attitudes (Schwartz, Mor-Sommerfeld and Leikin). With parents gaining a good knowledge of a language after relocating, it becomes easy to guide their children and help them understand the new language such as English. Most of the kids are greatly influenced by the talks of their parents, and if their parents are good bilingual, then the children will be easily controlled to understand the second language.
The research questions include; who causes the greatest challenge when it comes to bilingualism; parents or children? What are the appropriate steps to help develop bilingualism in school systems? Should school setups be designed in a way to accommodate children without bilingual capabilities or should be kids be made to adjust to the existing system?
Studying the bilingual research questions is essential when it comes to developing an educational system. With good answers to the questions, people understand how to fit into the system and give assistance to kids and parents who are monolingual (Kanno). When there is a good understanding of the affected people, it becomes easier to develop the systems to solve the challenge.
