Supply chain management as described by CSCMP (2) is a collection of the activities that take place to produce the final product for use by the consumers. It focuses on planning, purchasing storing and monitoring as it flows from the intermediaries to the ultimate consumer. According to Dhawan (3), a well-established supply chain makes a company sustain its profitability for an extended period. Unilever Company is a monopolist type of firm that majors in palm oil production. With this to consider, it has free entry and exists in the market and controls all the market prices as it is the only corporation supplying to the customers products that are highly differentiated. In turn, it makes supernormal profits in the short run and regular, profits in the near term.
The Company has two principal tasks to carry out. One demands for the application of high-level strategies and frameworks that will guide it in decision making. In turn, this will help them implement sustainable measures through its intermediaries to the final consumer. Secondly, developing ways that the company will apply for growth and verify sustainability compliance. Paul Polman, the CEO of the business, formed strategies toward achievement of the organizational goals by incorporating its customers and ensuring they offer quality products to their users. As a group, they produce goods such as oil and agricultural commodities with their logo for brand Imprint verification.
A major goal for this company is to trigger business improvement and purchase of goods for the satisfaction of their consumers. Stakeholders in this firm take a corporation to maximize its profits and giving quality products to its customers. Users preference will determine the price differentiation at different markets this enhances the growth of the entity.
In conclusion, Unilever Company has to operate within the government rules and regulations under the food and the drug act for the production of quality products and the functioning environment.
