A) I was pleased to notice that the author has singled out the same differences that I found. The size is an obvious aspect, which everyone must have noticed. I totally agree that the article about the poker player presents a broader perspective of his life. A very important aspect is that the article includes different points of view on this issue, which is an essential feature of studying any topic. Just like the author, I like the text about the poker player more, but the author has also shrewdly remarked that it introduces the problems of playing poker and the parent’s point of view. The author has also noticed that the main character of the article considers poker to be the sense of his life, which is a very interesting comment. As for the comparison of two genres, I can totally agree with the author – a journalistic profile has more eye-catching and absorbing elements, which make it more exciting for a reader, than an ordinary essay. It helps to convey more aspects of an interview, than an ordinary text.
B) As far as I am concerned, this review is rather short and lacks several important details. As for the comparison of the articles, the author has also mentioned the size, which is an evident difference, which must have been mentioned by everyone. Consequently, the second difference of details is quite logical. However, the author has expressed an interesting idea that the article about the poker player enables a reader to feel how a typical professional poker player lives his daily life and which struggles he comes through. The article about the ballerina doesn’t convey any image at all due to the deficit of details. The author doesn’t say anything about his/her preferences, which I consider a serious neglect. As for the comparison of a journalistic profile and an essay, the author mentions too few differences, whereas there are many points to talk about. I suppose, this text should be reconsidered and developed.
C) Office or workplace or organizational politics is the behaviour and the set of actions in human relationships at work. They involve the issues of subordination and authority, which distinguish it from other kinds of politics and ethics. It can also be defined as a set of actions at work involving power aimed at achieving better changes for the company. Although it is negatively treated by most people, it still exists in all companies, since people have different power, communication skills, and career goals. As for me, I would try, first of all, to define the main roles of my colleagues and the head departments, comprehend the informal atmosphere in the office, and start building relationships with my colleagues. If am interested in career advance, I will try to get in touch with people who have more informal power, although they may have a not very high position.
D) I can totally agree with these words. No matter which people work with you and even which people give your orders and salary, you should always stay human and follow your own and general moral and ethical principles. Career and work are transient things, but they may make you an extremely different person, they can destroy your life or improve it, they can even destroy your personality. Eventually, you corporate ladder will end, and you will look around and see who has stayed with you. There may be no one or there may be your family and friends. It is only for you to decide, which priorities you will have.
