The central thesis or main idea of this article is the way in which the politics of the country or nation can accommodate the cultural diversity and social differences among the people. The accommodation of multinational diversity within one state is emphasized fully in this article. The challenges towards the achievement of such an accommodative nation results from the conflict of between the old political wisdom and the current political realities in the modern world. The author concentrating on the issue of integrating multinational cultural and social aspects in a nation. The multinational cultural diversity is of the essence in ensuring that the country or nation can freely or easily accommodate people from different cultures without limitations or difficulties. This will, therefore, promote the spirit of global togetherness both in business and political affairs. The cultural acceptance among various nations across the globe is given emphasis and focus in this article.
The democracy of various nations is influenced by the way in which the territorial aspect is approached in life. The old wisdom emphasizes on the issue of territorial boundaries. This is detrimental to the issue of multinational cultural integration. “State-nation policies stand for a political-institutional approach which represents and protects multiple but complementary sociocultural identities’’. This aspect of territorial boundaries will limit the social and business interactions between countries resulting in poor interaction or international relations. The cultural diversity will, therefore, be limited and restricted by the issue of territorial boundaries. This will also result in difficulties, in trade activities among the nations due to the clash of cultures. The policies set by each nation or state influence the nature of sociocultural diversities and its effect on the multinational interaction and the way it affects the relationship between the countries involved.
The degree of cultural diversity among the independently democratic states varies and differs in scope. Some of the states have strong cultural diversities due to the political influence on the aspects of cultural diversities. This results in the aspects of self-determination and nationalism among such nations. Some nations also have cultural diversity, but they are not influenced by the aspects of territorial and little involvement of the political influence on such cultural aspects among such nations. Some states are also characterized by the homogeneity of cultural perspectives.
The spirit of nationalism is being emphasized by many countries where each of them drives towards achievement of a single political and cultural identity by all people living in that nation. This will help to reflect the modern perspective of democracy which enable people to speak with one voice to the spirit of unity and togetherness. “If almost all parties draw the vast bulk of their votes from their own respective ethno territorial units, the sense of trust in and identification with the center will probably be low”. The spirit and notion of the unitary nation-state are highly reflected in countries like Japan leading to positive progress in the democracy of countries or nations.
