Salary refers to the periodic payments to employees by the employers that are often specified in the contract for jobs. Salaries are often fixed amounts of money paid to employees on a regular basis in return of the services they provide to the organization or the employer. Salaries may also be viewed as the costs incurred in acquiring the human resources by an organization or employer. Salaries are often paid at fixed amounts and intervals especially on a monthly basis. The salaries are often determined by making a comparative analysis of the market rates of the other organizations or firms operating in the same industry in order to get the uniform or related rates for payment of employees at reasonable prices. The salaries may also be made by comparison of the salary ranges and pay rates set by individual employers. The determination of salaries also depends heavily on the number of employees or people available to perform the job at specific level of income or payments. Salary being the determinant of the choice of job one would select overpowers all the other factors. For instance, one would go for a job that has poor working conditions but pays as per the expectation of the job seeker. This is because the main reason for one to look for a job is to make some income in order to sustain their basic, as well as luxurious needs. This, therefore, means that, if the salary paid for services rendered will adequately meet the job seeker needs, then conditions of work will not dictate a lot. Hence salary is the main determinant.
The distance to be covered with the worker to the job place from his residence will not as well dictate whether or not the job is to be taken or not but salary will. This is because, if the payment to the worker is adequate to cater for the needs of the job seeker, then the distance will not matter. As long as the worker can get to work in time then the job will be taken. The worker can also relocate in case he cannot make there in time for the job from his area from of residence. If the distance to the job place is short and the payment to the worker is not satisfactory, then the job will not necessarily taken.
Salary paid to the worker also overrules the working hours required for one to work at the job place. If the working hours are long and the worker is being paid enough money as per his requirements, then the job will definitely be taken. This is because the main aim of the worker, that is, satisfaction of his needs is met. But if the salary that is being paid to the worker does not meet the worker's needs, despite of less working hours, the job may not necessarily be taken.
The time frame one is required to work for a certain job may as well be overlooked by the salary paid to the worker. For instance, if the worker is required to work on contractual basis of a short period and the salary paid is adequate, then the job will be taken. This is because the workers determining aim is being met even if in the short run. But in contrast, if the job opportunity presented to the worker is of long term and inadequate salary is being paid, then it may not be taken. This therefore shows clearly that for a worker to take a job opportunity, the main factor that determines is the salary paid.
Salaries are very important in the choice of job because this helps the employees to have security of a specific level of income every month or at regular periods of time. This will, therefore, play an essential role in ensuring that the employees have a regular flow of income from throughout the period of contract or employment. This will enable employees to maintain high levels of confidence at the job due to the good amount of salary provided to the employees. The salary is also associated with aspects of self-confidence and high self-esteem which further enable employees to feel secured in the company or organization.
Salaries are very important in consideration of choosing a job because they contribute greatly to the aspects of motivation among the workers. Salaries play an important role in boosting the morale and psyche of employees in performing various s tasks or activities in the organization. The aspects of motivation are also important because the employees will be motivated to work in order to maintain their jobs if the salaries are good or reasonable. This will, therefore help the organization to boost its performance through the improved or the quality services provide by the workers. Salaries therefore motivates workers to perform difficult and challenging tasks or job activities especially if the pay is good or realistic. The aspect of motivation through salaries is also important in ensuring that the employees stick to the job since they will not be able to substitute for anything else if they are already employed.
Salaries are also very important in the determination of job activities because they ensure regular flow of income of the worker. This regularity in the flow of incomes will enable them to plan and budget appropriately for the future activities and tasks at the personal level. This preparation f budgets by the employees are of essence in ensuring that the investments can be made at the personal level. The plans are fulfilled at the right time when dealing with the salaries as opposed to other factors of choosing a job in the market. This will also enable the employees to be consistent in their incomes so as to facilitate proper planning of projects with the specific level of income from the organizations or employers.
Salaries are also important in choosing of jobs because this will enable the employees to avoid risks and uncertainties associated with the so called issue of promotion and training in the organization. This is because the employees are guaranteed of payments at the end of their periods specified under the contracts or terms of service in an organization. Salaries helps in the eradication of uncertainties and risks associated with other forms of payment .The employees will therefore be able to derive satisfaction from the job.
In conclusion, the salaries plays a very crucial role in the choosing of jobs since the financial rewards are directly related to the levels of performance in an organization. The tasks will, therefore, be allocated based on the productivity they give took the company. Salaries provides confidence and job security to the employees, thereby, ensuring that the employees stick to the jobs in order to avoid the cases losing the job. The salaries will also enable the employee to evaluate if the effort or energy placed on the given job is reasonable in relation to the payments provided by the employer.
