The kingdom Saudi Arabia is an Arab state located in western part of Asia, it borders Iraq, Jordan to the north, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain in the east, Yemen and Oman the south. The country pride itself to being the second largest Arab-speaking nation second to Algeria. the country in constituted of four main districts East Arabia, Hejaz and Asir that were united through a series of conquest in 1902. The country is an absolute monarchy that is governed by the house of Saudi Islamic guidelines. The kingship is a hereditary dictatorship that is ruled by strict Sharia laws. The Saudi culture of the country and its capital provide an ideal location for the Islamic region capital Mecca which doubles up as the country’s capital.
The country is located in a highly volatile region with constant conflict being experienced all the year round. Most of the conflicts are associated with the different religions that are found in the area and boundaries among the different state that Saudi Arabia borders.
The region is well endowed with oil and natural gases an aspect that attracts a lot of interests from the various world powers. Oil and natural gas have great impact in the global economy hence by affecting the prices of the commodity the world powers are highly affected making them sponsor nations in the region against each other. Constant conflicts have forced different states to forge alliances with major world power to neutralize the other countries interest.
Saudi Arabia has for a long time established a working relationship with the American governments to enjoy different benefits. Military supplies and threats from China and Russia are keys to the key strategic factors that make Saudi Arabia forge working alliance with America.
America’s key interest in working close with Saudi Arabia is the need to control America’s economic interests in the region and also contain raising rebellions among different Islamic states in the area. The countries cooperation with the America has created many enemies among neighboring nations resulting in too many conflicts. On the short term benefit, Saudi Arabia appears to profit from the relationship it has with the America. However, the country can be much stronger without America as a close partner.
The country boast of being the heart of the Islamic nations, Mecca has for a long time been celebrated as the origin of the Islamic states. Saudi Arabia can use this to unite all the Islamic countries in the region. Through uniting the different states using religion, the number of conflicts will significantly reduce. Few conflicts mean fewer alliances and more political autonomy for the country.
The share sheer size of the Saudi Arabia and the population provide the country with a vast resource to exploit for economic purposes. The large population size also offers the kingdom with a large standing army as compared to all other neighboring nation.
The county also boasts of vast natural gasses and oil deposit which bring in a lot of foreign exchange. Earnings from the oils and gasses provide the country with the much-needed resources to empower its military through purchase or manufacturing of weapon. Currently Saudi Arabia boasts of the largest and most military in the region giving them superiority over all other countries in the area. The natural resources such as the oil, gases, and land size provide the countries independent variables. The military equipment on the other side is highly dependent on America or other western power for providence.
Saudi Arabia without America is hence, a most potent and influential among its neighboring state. The position Saudi Arabia holds the Islamic faith dictates more leadership responsibility for other Islamic countries in the area.
