Socio-economic activities lead to the interaction of mankind at one point or the other in undertaking daily activities. in a community, people engage in varying activities to earn a living according to their profession and interest which calls for a peaceful co-existence among those in the same workplace. One of the factors that determine a good and successful business or quality delivery of the kind of service is the relationship among workers that are determined by the ability of the workers to cope with the varying personalities and emotions of each other. Human resource manager in any firm plays a very important role in ensuring a good and respectable relationship among workers is maintained.
Emotional skills and competency of workers can be improved through a series of steps. Emotonal self-awareness which refers to of understanding own personality which include things like strengths, weaknesses, motivation, and beliefs. Having the knowledge about this helps one have an idea of how to relate and treat other workmates with the same or different personalities. Ability to control emotions is another important component in this context. The individual can relate well with others if that person can control unpleasant or pleasant emotions at inappropriate times. Public relation is improved by this since it makes one tolerable by others in varying situations.
Regulating emotions in others also plays a very important role. It involves the ability of a worker to be influential by being able to communicate well to co-workers passing the intended message across in a good way and solving conflicts in ways that do not lead to enmity. Motivation among oneself is vital for personal growth and of the business as a whole. Self drive and having a goal that works towards achieving it is an important aspect in one's maturity and growth and also helps in relationship with others. Special emphasis should be put on character development that include things such as integrity and trust which helps improve a persons confidence in every doing with minimum supervision.
In conclusion, in strategies to improve the quality of goods and services produced, relations should be considered as a very important factor, and strategies formulated to educate workers about this issue. Seminars and workshops should be organised where professionals are invited to give talks on what to do to improve emotional skill and competencies.
