If I would define my life, I would say that it is synonymous to mountain climbing. The climb to get where I am today was not easy. I had to overcome not only landslides but also meltdown that took a toll on me. It was filled with hardship but at the same time it is nothing short of fulfilment. When my dad of cancer when I was just seven years old, my family’s life drastically changed. It was a difficult chapter of our lives because we just lost our pillar of support. However, I saw my family’s struggles as my main fuel to study harder and pursue my education in the United States. It was my childhood dream to step foot in the US and I am fortunate to have been given the chance to study in the country. I am currently in the process of completing my Master’s program in Computer Science. In this line, I wish to take the next step and pursue my Ph.D. Computer software and programs have always fascinated me, to the point that I dedicated majority of my student life researching and learning about them. The demand for the profession, for example, is constantly growing due to the pace society is currently moving right. As the world becomes more borderless, the need and demand for advancement in technology heightens to the point that it becomes an integral part in the lifestyle of people.
Areas such as Software Engineering and its management caught my interest because of its potential in innovating people’s lives. My lifetime goal is to contribute towards the positive improvement in society. Similar to the main goal of Engineering in general which is to improve the quality of life, I feel that I can offer my expertise to provide change towards advancement.
Growing up in a family that had to experience many difficulties in the past, I learned the valuable lesson of hard work. I look up to my mother who sacrificed a lot to send us to good schools. In return for her sacrifices, I made sure that I focus on my academics. I am proud to say that I was a full scholar back when I first came to the US. I did not waste the opportunity that was given to me and in the end I saw myself slowly but surely improving the profession. As of the moment, I came in the process of finalizing my Masteral research which is in line with Agile Management Framework.
What I can offer your institution aside from signature dedication is both my technical skills and personality. I have honed my technical skills because of my years of experience in studying and practical applications. I find pleasure in analysing and organizing things in order to come up with more innovative products. I also extend my expertise to people outside of my day to day life. I immerse myself in volunteer activities that help in familiarising people from different age groups in computers. In 2010, for example, I aided elderly people to learn the basics of computers so that they have basic knowledge on how computers operate.
Progressing in the field of Software Engineering Management is a career track I envision myself doing in the future. I also wish to facilitate lectures in university most especially in my home country. As I sign myself for yet another development in my career, I acknowledge that it will not be an easy feat. I consider myself mature to welcome both new challenges and opportunities because I know that all of these are for my growth. My mother taught me what dedication can do to a person’s life. Despite our difficult life, she managed to raise us and encourage us to be the best of what we can be. It is with sincere interest that I wish to enter the Ph.D program of your institution in order for me to better gage and expose myself to the demands of the profession
