Introduction
There have been rampant shootings in the United States for many years. These shootings have left many people dead while many more have been injured in the process. These shootings have been happening in different places and have not been specifically happening in same places. Schools, malls, theaters and other places where the people have been grouping in large numbers have been targets for these killers. The killers that have been carrying out the said killings have been from different age groups and the common thing that has been uniting them has been the results that display their mental statuses. With these killings happening, several laws have been passed that will see to effect the reduction of the numbers of the people that perish as a result of mass shootings. However, these laws have not been as strict as they are supposed to be. In different areas, the laws have lesser effects than in different areas. This has led to reckless handlings of the guns and has thus resulted in the death of many people.
The use of guns in the different states has raised different questions about whether or not the people need the guns. This has been due to the violent nature that has been seen among the perpetrators of the different mass killings that have happened. There are some rules that have been ignored in the implementation of the strict gun laws. If these laws are made stricter then the number of deaths resulting from mass murders might be reduced by larger margins. The number of guns that should be owned by a single household should be reduced to less than three so that the probability of misuse among the family members is reduced. Each gun that is owned in the household should also bear a reason as to why the members of the household have the gun. If the gun is meant for hunting, then the gun should remain as a hunting property only and not more than that.
The amount of ammunition that is possessed by the people who have guns should also be limited so that the owners of the guns will find it hard to misuse the ones that they have. Other than this, the people who own the guns should be cross-checked medically so that it is determined if the people are medically fit to own the guns. This has been due to a number of people who have been perpetrators of the mass shootings turning out to be mentally disabled. The age of the people that get close to the guns should also be determined. This will enable teaching the people on how to keep the guns in more control and avoid disasters. The parents that have children who are still in school will be trained on the new methods of handling the children and ensuring that the children do not come into contact with the guns that the parents are registered to.
These acts of mass killings have abused different rights in different categories. For instance, it is not morally correct for people to walk up to other people and shoot them for no reason or out of personal frustration. According to the civil laws, this is also an abuse to the law since it will be grouped under murder which is punishable under a civil court. This has not been acceptable under any other court in the world and different courts and rights activists have come out to condemn the killings that have brought public uproar all over the world.
These laws have been approved in different states and even stricter laws have been set up in these areas. The people in the different states have approved these laws as they aim to reduce the killing incidences that have been seen in the country. However, there are other people that have come out to condemn the gun laws as they argue that the laws have little resemblance to the gun killings that have been around. They argue that even if the laws are made stricter or even if the people are asked to surrender their guns, then the criminals will find a way to acquire guns that they will use in the killings.
There are groups that should champion these rights of the citizens of the United States. The humanitarian groups as well as activists should pick up this fight of fighting the gun incidences that have been seen across the country. These groups together with the legislative arms could help the country by devising rules that will see the people be delivered from the mass shooting problems that have been frequent in the recent past. They will be able to pass proposals that might be discussed in the legislative houses and this will help the American citizens attain the safety that they desperately need in schools, theaters, shopping malls and other public gathering areas.
