Sustainability of Adelaide Oval
Located at the heart of Australia’s coastal capital, the Adelaide Oval Stadium is one of Australia’s largest stadiums that became host of numerous public events such as football leagues and concerts throughout the years. Known locally as the ‘Adelaide Oval’ the stadium is capable of seating 53,500 people. For instance, the northern side of the oval has a seating capacity of 3,000 whilst the general audience section where anyone can stand has a capacity of holding 3,500 audiences. Both the Western side and the Riverbank side has a total of 28,000 seating capacity (14,000 pax/side) whilst the Eastern Block has the largest seating arrangements of 19,000 pax. (Adelaide Oval, n.d).
The Adelaide Oval follows a modern architecture style; its ground layout composed of a circular ground called rotunda, its seating arrangement are arranged slanted and in elevated position in order to give way for the audiences to get a good view of the ground even from above. Functional spaces such as the stadium below interacts with the players as well the audiences. One of the important amenities of the stadium is the inclusion of the toilets located in every ground level with continuous access to clean water for the people’s hygiene. On the other hand, the stadium also has control tower for the media observation. Additionally, this is one of the most important FIFA battle locations and the administrators of the stadium are faithful to the requirements issued by the organization for football games while other re-development are also added to improve the level of viewing and gaming experience. (Adelaide Oval, n.d). For further improvements, the administration in charge of the Adelaide Oval are currently working on the re-designing of the stadium in order to sustain the needs of the people during the public events these includes the landscape improvement for aesthetic purposes, the installation of food kiosks and canteens, and the restoration of the aquatic wildlife near the stadium riverbank.
