Part 1
The argument that the authors present is that of the way information about the friends were formed. The authors argue that friends find their friends’ information online in ways that are less formal. The authors raise the issue of the way information regarding the friends and the people that are found online are achieved. It is an issue of concern that should be taken into consideration. The authors are concerned about the gathering of information on the internet and the impact that this has on the clients. It is an issue of concern that should be put in place for clients. The authors’ insights are that people make it easy to make new friendships than it was few years ago. People are concerned about the aspects of the online friendships. Basing on a research that they did a few years ago on CouchSurfung website, the authors’ state that the ties that come up from these networks are an issue of concern because they do not last for long. They bring a significant point that although technology is used to make friendships on the internet, it has not been used to make greater and stronger ties than offline friendships.
Interview
The person that I decided to interview is my brother-in-law, who married my eldest my sister. He, and my sister, have been using technology for some time now. He is 17 years my senior. He went through college and has a stable job at the moment working as an accountant. My brother got to be introduced to the use of email within the office environment. That was fifteen years ago. With the use of email, my brother-in-law was able to communicate with workmates and other individuals in the office via electronic means. The new technology changed the way the workmates were able to communicate and pass information with one another. The new technology was able to be used in the whole process to get new information regarding the issues that have been put in place. Initially, letters were used and communication used to take a lot of time. These have changed and people are now able to communicate effectively and using the shortest time. The new technology was one which made a lot of impact not only to my brother-in-law but to the entire world. My brother-in-law told me that the new technology made it possible to communicate with distant friends and relatives and made them have closer ties. If there were issues that needed to be communicated in his social life, he would get the answers within a short time. The new perception of the world was that the new way of communicating made it easy to reach to people. The world was not becoming a small village. It is here that the phrase global village was made. It is because of the emergence of new technologies that made it simpler and efficient to make some communications with relatives. He has even told me of some of the issues that have been able done to ensure that there is better understanding of information in the world.
On my case, Facebook was the life-changer for me. It is a technology that was started in 2004 but I got to use it intensively three years ago. With this new technology, I have a lot of friends and have been able to make the necessary communications with the people that I trust. I have ha friends and the world has been a small place to be. With the use of technology I have been able to meet new friends and have been able to organize events online. I have been able to read some new information online and have been able to understand the undertakings of online information. Facebook and other social networking sites have changed my perception of the world because I have been able to understand how the world is working and the concepts that need to be changed in the entire world. With the use of technology, there has been issues of concern that have been brought about in the world.
Concluding remarks
Technology has a great impact on relationships. The difference between my brother-in-law and myself on the use of technology is the frequency of the use of technology. For example, my brother-in-law often makes use of social media to make official communication, while I use it more often to get in contact with my mates. There is some generational gap because the new generation of users make use of technology more to communicate and make friends while for the old generation is is used to make official communication. At the moment we use the same technology of Facebook with my brother-in-law. It has strengthened our relationships.
