I provide herewith a brief account of my strengths, interests and life values. Networking with individuals and an impeccable acumen to communicate with others in the workplace are my key strengths. I also have a passion to explore new places and avenues besides getting along with people belonging to different cultures. The very fact that I am a Chinese girl who has travelled several thousands of miles from my home country to pursue my higher studies in the United States speaks volumes about my cherished dream of making this world small through my networking skills. Towards keeping in touch with my peers back in China and the United States I have created several Facebook and WhatsApp network groups to share our view points about several issues. For instance, my Facebook page “Sharing a daily thought,” in which I share a highly motivating thought each day gets several thousands of likes each day. The positive feedbacks I sometimes receive from my professors continue to motivate me to read a lot and share my thoughts in the web page. I can boldly say that my “Sharing a daily thought” Facebook book page continues to improve my communication and networking skills.
I cherish getting along with my friends who come from diverse cultures across the globe. This has widened my understanding and knowledge about belonging to diverse religious and socio-economic backgrounds. My attitude about people belonging to other cultures has totally changed since I landed up in the business school, which I believe will help me in managing workplaces with cross cultural workforces. I have been keenly participating in the activities of the college level cultural club. The activities of the club like cultural evenings in which each week we participated in a tea party hosted by students from various nations to deeply understand their customs and beliefs helped me to appreciate their values and traditions. This has increased my confidence in dealing with individuals belonging to various cultural backgrounds across the globe as a future business manager.
I also have a great deal of self-awareness; in other words, I believe in always listening to my inner voice while taking major decisions in life. For instance, as a little girl growing up in China, I dreamed about going around the world and meeting people. My society did not encourage girls going abroad alone during those days; however, I believed I can contribute creatively to my society by acquiring state of the art knowledge and skills from America, thanks to my inner urge. My parents, as always, valued my decision to go abroad and helped me to acquire world class education from the United States. Interestingly, I have earlier demonstrated my habit of listening to my inner voice to take important decisions in life that made them to support my decision. I am always driven by three basic questions in life: Who am I? What am I doing? And where am I going? These three basic questions guide my decisions at all times. I am confident that this habit of mine would influence my team members in the workplace which in turn would motivate them to cooperate with my decisions.
In brief, my key strength of being enthusiastic about exploring new avenues and meeting new people will be an asset to my employer. My flair for appreciating different cultures and values will help me to do business with partners and clients across the globe. Finally, my self-awareness will help me in taking right decisions always.
