ART WORK
The chosen artwork for this specific question is a piece of art by famous painter Leonardo da Vinci. This particular artwork is titled St. Jerome in the wilderness. This piece of art is dated as far back as 1480.thus, this particular art piece is very informative of the world as it existed in the 15th century and gives insight into the mind of artists as well as their emotions at that particular point in history. This is a painting that exists in the Vatican museum. Most of the artwork by Leonardo da Vinci is respected with almost all of his paintings gaining fame on a global scale and even standing the test of time as far as the relevance of any work of art is concerned.st. Jerome in the wilderness is however one of the paintings by Leonardo da Vinci to which justice has not been done by the art community to say the least. This is because despite the brilliance in this piece of work this just so happens to be one of the least famous pieces of art by the legend Leonardo da Vinci. It is with this realization in mind that this piece of art was chosen for this particular discussion in order to do justice to this masterpiece that seems to have been neglected by the self-proclaimed keen eye of art.
This particular visit to a museum happened to be the first as far as actual museum experiences are concerned. Reasons of not visiting any museums at an earlier date range from both personal to circumstance related reasons. The personal reasons include a previous lack of proper appreciation for art that led to laziness as far as visiting art showcases is concerned. The circumstantial reasons include small coincidences and emergent issues that always seemed to pop up whenever there was a large art exhibition in town or any opportunity to visit an art exhibition arose such as matters of family and issues school work.
On first observation any observer cannot help but to identify with the man in the painting and sympathize with the physical appearance of the man in the painting. This painting conveys a somber mood that is rather sad especially as far as sympathy with the man in the painting is concerned. A closer look at the painting tends to appeal even more to the emotions of the observer. This is because it portrays suffering of the man in the painting in grueling detail. The state of the man with reference to exactly what he is going through is clearly visible in the painting thus there is an emotional cloud surrounding this painting that leaves every single observer paying even the slightest attention to this painting in full touch with their emotions and somehow in full connection with the painting and the massage that is being carried across by the painting.
The manner in which this artwork was displayed in relation to other pieces of art in the display is also of great interest. This is because this painting was placed in an isolated corner a bit further away from the other paintings perhaps in an attempt to attach the message in the painting with the physical location of the painting. The placing of the painting ensured that anyone viewing this painting was viewing this painting alone. The reaction by the crowd was more or less the same as everyone got very emotional on viewing this painting.
It would be very interesting to know exactly what motivated Leonardo da Vinci to create this painting in the exact way that he did. It would also be interesting to know how he achieved such levels of pin point accuracy as far as painting is concerned at a time in history when the level of technology was undeveloped to say the least. The dominant color in this particular painting is brown. The artist just happens to use different shades of the color brown in order to create distinction of the various elements of the painting. The painting is a painting of a rather old man in a seemingly state of suffering and persecution. This man is apparently in the middle of nowhere surrounded by rocks and sand. There is absolutely no vegetation in this location and it appears to be a desert. The old man in the painting is barely clothed and has nothing on but a robe that is rather old and appears to be torn and wearing out. The man is seated down on a rock with his right hand stretched out as if to grasp something. The most interesting or rather insightful part of the painting is the face of the man in the painting. The face of the man shows hints of hunger and an obvious thirst for water. Clearly the man is in a state of agony and seems to be undergoing great suffering. The man is also thin and looks like he has not eaten in a while.it is however not clear whether the man is in this location by choice or has been isolated by society.
