My Personal Philosophy
There are three things I value more in life than anything else –education, camaraderie and integrity. However, these does not mean that everything else is worthless or has no value to me. In fact, I think that value is something that varies among people depending on how they were brought up and what they wanted to accomplish out of life. I value education because my parents reared me believing that a good education is one’s person only asset that cannot be taken away nor would run dry. Camaraderie is important for me because I believe that no man can live in perfect isolation, and he will naturally be in need of other people to assist him to get to where he wants to be. Finally, I value integrity because it gives a person a person a distinct self-image that would earn him the respect and recognition not only of other people, but also of himself. These three things are for me pivotal in allowing me to succeed in life and the endeavour I want to pursue. Because education, camaraderie and integrity are three concepts that are needed to survive in one’s chosen professional career.
On Education
While I was growing up, my parents imparted in me something that I will never forget and hopefully I could relate these to own children too in the future. My parent’s were some rich couples who own chains of businesses or massive properties. We do not have fat bank account stashed in the bank somewhere and neither do my parents carry paycheck. However, I consider them rich people and so does everyone else because they have something that will never ran out nor get stolen. My parents are educated people. They have good education that allowed them to work in places they wanted to work. Thus, growing up my parents taught me the value of a good education.
My parents told me once, how much they do not own anything so they could not leave me behind with any inheritance when they pass away. However, my father said that despite the absence of material possessions my parents knew that the best thing they could leave me behind was a good education. According to them, there is nothing more important nor more valuable than receiving the best education. You could use your education to go places, acquire things and eventually better the status of your life. A good education can never be stolen. It will never ran out just as well. You can not give it away, and you will not lose it either.
While I do not believe that the schools you attended or the grades you made in school would make any significant difference, I do think that at some point this parameter will be used as a gauge. However, the quality of education should be perceived as the most important. Eventually, one would prove that the name of the institution you attended does not dictate how much you have learned. In the same event, I do not think that grades should be used to gauge how much a child knows because these would have to depend on the discretion of the student.
Personally, I believe that a person is never too old for education. And if you have that opportunity to pursue it grab it with both hands. In fact, I believe that good education is not limited to that one would receive in school or any academic institution. A good education is earned from experience. Thus, I believe in the value of camaraderie.
On Camaraderie
There is the cliche that says, no man is an island. We all naturally need other people in order to survive. Of course, we all need to learn how to be self-sufficient, but in the process of being self-sufficient we should never fail to acknowledge the support and assistance that people provides us. Like what I said earlier, we learn through experiences and other people help provide some of those experiences.
Socrates once said, try to associate yourself with sages, and you become one just like them too . And so I believe that if you want to be successful then you should necessary associate yourself among the ranks of the successful. The self-image that is exudes and projected by the people you associate yourself with is also a reflection of who you are. What matters to them might also be the same as those that matters to you because you wouldn’t mind spending time with people you do not share anything in common with.
Camaraderie can also be related to networking . In the professional arena, I believe that a good number of networks is necessary. This is not to establish or justify that one should use people in order to get what they need. However, there is nothing wrong by knowing a lot of other people who could help you accomplish some important things that need to be accomplished. I believe in reciprocity. Whatever help is extended to you, you should give back also. However, there is a difference between doing a favor and committing a crime for another person. Reciprocity does not include being pressured to do something that is against another person’s conscience.
On Integrity
My Career Goals
It would have been easy to stop school after graduating from high school. No offense to high school graduates because I have known some who eventually succeed despite the lack of a college or university diploma. However, for me personal there is more to it that I wanted than just getting a job in a fast-food chain or retail outlet. I wanted to climb and reach the corporate ladder and be someone deemed valuable in the corporate world.
I am not ambitious though. I did not say that after securing my diploma in college I will automatically secure a position as a manager or director at one of the highly esteemed and big multinational companies in the world. I am in fact, willing to start small because I personally believe that in doing so I will be more effective when and if I become part of the management team. There are simply things that cannot be learned in books and taught in class. The best teacher still would be an experience. By starting among the lowest ranks, I would best appreciate the efforts that other people put into the process of running the daily business operations. In addition, by starting among the rank-and-file I will be able to recognize the sentiments of everyone into the system therefore I would not miss out on things when I reach the top.
Of course, I aspire for the highest position in my field of endeavor. However, unlike the others I am more than willing to pass through every channel necessary to get to where I wanted. Knowing the people who worked in the company and be one with everyone would make me a better manager and a better leader. I personally believe that no effective leader or manager is unable to reach the people who work for him. I believe in the necessity of communication, personal interaction, experience and gradual accomplishment.
When I say gradual accomplishments, I mean I do not want to become a manager or leader in an instant. This is not because I do not believe in my own capacities to manage or lead. In fact, I believe that I can take on the job and that responsibility even instantly after college. However, I am still missing out one another thing that is very important in handling the said responsibility—experience. They said victory is sweet when you know you did your best to achieve it. That is what I want to be able to accomplish. I want to have that courage to able to look people straight into their eyes and say I have worked hard, day and night to get to where I am.
My Plan of Accomplishing my Goals
Before I set up a plan of how to accomplish my goal, it would always help to continuously remind me of where I am heading. This will help provide me a good sense of direction. I want to be a leader in a highly reputable and leading manufacturing firm of the world’s leading industry. It will become a mantra for me until such time that I would see my name in front of the office door bearing that title Corporate Executive Officer. Perhaps others would say I am too ambitious or too idealistic. However, a good vision and high aspiration are good motivating forces to drive one to succeed.
While I am still in school, I believe that the best way towards my goal is to study hard. Master all the theoretical foundations. I should arm myself with the right skills, expertise, technicalities and cognitive knowledge that are found useful in my field of endeavor. I could also begin practicing my management and leadership skills by taking on responsibilities at school. I could join a school organization and start from there.
I could also begin expanding my network while I am still in school. By making friends, joining outreach programs, participating in the events I can be able to expand my network and eventually use this in the future. Researching would also do me a lot of good. I will always be informed and updated with the latest development in the company of my choice. This way I will be able to know the path they are heading and if this is still aligned to my objectives and my goals when I finish college.
Finally, when it comes to my internship, I will go to the company of my choice and absorb all the insights that I can from that on-the-job experience.
The Industry of my choice
I want to become a productive member of a fast growing technological manufacturing company, to which I want to become the CEO. I decided on a technological manufacturing company because base on my personal assessment of the current trend in business of technological and electronic manufacturing companies, there is still a very promising future for this industry.
New technologies are being discovered and developed almost every hour . This is the reason it continues to soar in the industry. Seemingly, it has been believed that the industry has a long journey to go and will continue to flourish in the years to come. Five years from after I graduate from college, there will still be high demand for this industry. It will still continue to thrive, and hopefully it will still grow and expand.
Reason why I am the perfect candidate
I can provide anyone with a long list of reasons why I am the best person for this job. This is not simply to oversell myself, but this is because I believe I do not run short as far as qualifications are concern. In terms of one's personal philosophy, I sincerely believe that I have a good set of philosophy. The way I value education would prove my willingness to learn. Since I have a natural desire to learn, it means that I will always be in pursuit of discovering new things that can be good for the company.
My strong sense of camaraderie would also prove beneficial to the company in the event that the company wants to expand or increase in size. A good rapport and relationship not only with the managing the people is necessary. But it will be to my advantage that I am open to starting low and gradually climb the corporate channel because this will allow me to understand the specify demands of every department or section.
Overall, I believe that I am the perfect candidate because I possess the attitude, the skills, the knowledge and the capacity to bring good results to the company I join in.
