According to the personality test, I belong to the ESFJ-A type that is advised to seek career opportunities requiring high organization skills, the creation and maintenance of order and the provision of help to others. As an ESFJ, I am, thus, likely to achieve full potential as a nurse, a teacher, a physician, an administrator, a social worker, a counselor, etc. Indeed, my current career aspirations lie in the fields of counselling and social work.
This career choice has been primarily influenced by my long-time affection for people and genuine interest in almost every individual I meet. Since adolescence I wanted to get to know more about how people operated and felt, and the reasons and causes for human behavior, and being an industrious and diligent person, I sat for hours reading books and observing people on a daily basis, while my outgoing personality always helped me to get practical knowledge. This routine activity aimed at learning more about people is reflected in such personality traits as being observant, feeling and judging person.
As my personality test revealed, I am a sensitive and empathic person, and I believe that along with extraversion, this personality trait is crucial for social workers and counselors, who are required to communicate with people daily, be able to put oneself in others’ shows and provide any needed help. At the same time, social work involves tons of routine administrative work, self-organization and organization of others, and lack of constant creative initiative at work may scare away people, who need more freedom and spontaneity. Luckily, I am an observant type that can appreciate routine and order, which develop patience. I am not scared of the perspective to work with the same clients and patients over and over again for years. I understand that people, who seek help, often do not trust social workers and counselors at first, and patience and maintenance of order can help build genuine mutual trust faster, which will allow me to help such people more effectively.
Finally, the aforesaid career paths can allow me to fulfil my life goal, which is to make the lives of as many people as I can better through working as a specialist within an organization, whose aims align with mine. At the same time, I know, and my personality test results confirm this, that I am a person, who strives in an organized environment, and being a social worker often entails scheduled and structured work regime.
