The beach
On warm sunny day, strolling along the beach makes he felt the coarse sand scratching his bare feet. The expansive blue water dotted with fishermen’s boats and ships can be seen to vanish in the horizon. The sun warms the beach and makes everyone desire jumping into the water. Tiny crabs were scurrying everywhere. He was tempted to pick them up, and keenly look at them before letting them go. He became tired after strolling for some time, and decided to sit on the white sand.
The sea breeze blew, bringing onto the shore waves that broke and produced a rhythmic sound that soothed his soul and gave a feeling of tranquility and peace. The birds sung their sweet melodies, and they can be heard from a far. The heat made him lazy and he had to lie on the sand and felt the coarse warm sand massaged his body. He rolled over several times, the peace was overwhelming.
The smell of the water brought along by the breezes fills the air. It smells salty and like fresh fish. As he lay there, his sight was attracted to a shiny shell. He picked it up and beyond the shell was smooth and shaped as a cone. It was one of the most beautiful things he had ever seen. This aroused his desire to search for more shells just as the one he had found. He stood up and walked along the beach with his eyes roaming all over with the hope of finding another shell. After some time, He found another shell, bigger and with black dots.
He could see people swimming in the water. They seemed to be very happy as they submerged their bodies into the cold water. “It must have felt good”, he thought. He got into his costumes, and slowly walked to the shoreline. The water gushed across his legs bringing a cool sensation as the waves broke under his feet. He got into the water and submerged his whole body. It felt cold, and all over sudden he was filled with energy. He tried to swim, but a big wave covered his body that made him panic. In the process of attempting to rescue himself, he tried to call for help. Water gushed into his mouth. He swallowed several gulps. It tasted salty. Some water got into his nose, and it began to hurt.
Luckily for him, one of the swimmers saw him and noticed his panic, although the water had already retracted. The other swimmer swam towards him and calmed him down and assured him that it was still safe to swim. However, he suggests that, like any other learner, he should have been accompanied, and uses a floater. Determined to give another try he got a floater and was able to float easily. After a period of 30 minutes, he was done with swimming and left for home. He enjoyed the day and kept the shells as a remainder of that day.
