Steve Jobs ones said,
We don’t get a chance to do that many things, and everyone should be really excellent. Because this is our life. Life is brief, and then you die, you know? And we’ve all chosen to do this with our lives. So it better be damn good. It better be worth it.
These words struck my mind the moment I read them. Since then, Steve Jobs the world most famous business genius and innovator became my inspiration and role model in many ways. His success story led me to get on a business path and keeps motivating me on a way to my dream.
Steven's dislike for traditional education continued in the university, from which he successfully dropped off, but continued visiting art lessons, such as calligraphy, that would inspire fonts he created for Mac. Jobs met Steven Wozniak when the first was still at high school and the least was already in college. Despite the difference in age, two of them had something in common. That something was passion for chips and computing. The encounter of these two genius people changed the world of electronics, business and marketing forever.
In my opinion, Job's success attributes to his persistence, sometimes stubbornness in defending and promoting his view. He always strived for excellence, nothing less than perfect was enough for him. And he was blunt about it. Jobs management style reintroduced the old and forgotten leadership and dominance. He wouldn't compliment an employee on a bad result. Yes, sometimes he was harsh, but it was necessary for the business. Strictness, straightforwardness, perfectionism and creativity were the qualities that helped him build the Apple empire.
Jobs said that ”some people aren’t used to an environment where excellence is expected” and was right. When he was resigned from his duties as a head of Macintosh division, Jobs didn't stop and founded NeXT Inc. that subsequently bought the Graphics Group, that he renamed as Pixar afterwards. Being exiled and betrayed, not only didn't he lose his faith, but built a successful studio that produced world famous animation films.
As new management of Apple struggled to introduce competitive innovative products to the market, they asked Jobs to rejoin the company. This small step led to revolution in the world of consumer electronics and marketing. Inspired and full of strength and ideas, Jobs introduced such products as iMac, iPod, iPad and iPhone. The success of the products are attributed to the qualities he was fired for: keenness to take risks, not taking compromises when it comes to the quality and unstoppable striving to change the world.
Every day, every minute the story of Steven Jobs is in my thoughts, motivating and inspiring to progress, succeed, fight for my dreams. He taught me that passion, hard work, creativity and leadership can open new horizons and create things unseen and unimagined before.
