1. The film indicates that preparation is essential to the completion of tasks. Furthermore, the film indicates that knowledge and being fully prepared could potentially save a person's life. The events as they occurred demonstrate the fact that things can go out of control quickly and being prepared can help to limit the challenges that might be faced.
2. It seems that the entire film is like a negotiation. Perhaps at the beginning, while the plot is being set up, there is not any real negotiation. However, after the murder of Nate, Roman must employ the full level of negotiation that he has available in order to overcome his circumstances.
3. The situation was dynamic and constantly changing. As Roman attained more information, he saw how far the conspiracy that he was facing went. He had to employ quick thinking in order to keep up with the circumstances.
4. The two main characters, Roman and Sabian, were heavily invested in the plot. Roman because he was attempting to uncover the plot and Sabian because he seemed invested in his job and role as a negotiator. Furthermore, after finding out the truth, Sabian quickly acts in order to ensure that justice is done. There was, therefore a lot of energy in their characters. Due to the circumstances of the movie, the other police seemed t have a lot of energy as well.
5. The relationship between Roman and Nate essentially drove the film. It is difficult to believe that Roman would have gone to such extreme measures to uncover the plot if his friend had not been murdered. Furthermore, the growing friendship between Roman and Sabian demonstrates a bond between two like minded individuals. Their mutual desire for justice seemed to make them like one another.
6. Roman certainly acts on his own emotions. His taking hostages demonstrates the full extent of his emotional state. Sabian also seems to have been led by his emotions, taking Roman's side on his own instinct.
7. The movie shows the everyday negotiations that people make in the small compromises that they make in their moral or ethical character. In this sense, negotiations will stack on top of one another, as one bad decision leads to the next. The film seems to imply that the moral character of an individual is a negotiation with the world that is trying to corrupt it. The type of person that an individual is therefore has a strong impact on how they respond to negotiation in a specific situation. The personalities of people provide important points of consideration for the ability to make assumptions about them. The development of internal stories can have a profound effect on how a person sees the world. When Sabian remarks to Roman that he is a stranger, this underlies idea of how personal stories and the development of personal moral negotiation can effect the relationships that people have. Roman knew simply by Sabian's character that he could trust him. In this sense, the statement was not true. Sabian and Roman were, in fact, very similar and like-minded.
