There is a new law in Texas and it has a variation of effects on many who supported it. The new gun law which is the Open Carry seems to have more negative reactions that thought possible. It was supposed to give others an opportunity to carry their weapons openly and unfortunately that have backfired somewhat. Business owners are now doing the one thing many employees did not expect to see and customers are taken off guard because of it. More of the populous seem to approach the situation a little bit more strict than usual. One can only question if it was worth it creating such a law and if one would agree to it.
Many are aware of the concealed weapon laws in which the weapons are not visibly seen or shown. However, recently Texas has a new law which is the Open Carry. Based on one resource “the new law has triggered private business owners to not only exercise their right to bar open carry on their premises, but prohibit concealed handguns” (Mascia 2016). It appears the law has changed the hearts and thoughts of many. Signs are being placed where the public can now see them, they are aware that they cannot take the guns concealed or not into those public locations. One cannot help but to disagree with this new law as it changes everything. A lot of people are already used to the idea of concealed weapons but this is very different.
This law just adds problems and make everything worse and creates mistrust and a lot of precautions. Employees are having to get used to more strict rules, customers are having to still not carry the weapon the way they want, when they want and where they want. There is a high percentile rise in the barring of carrying concealed weapons on business doors. This never happened before the new Texas law took effect. Instead of making life easier for gun carriers it has become a nightmare. I would not have agreed to the new law, regardless of the outcome. This is just proof of what is to come in the future, and the more laws will change the more difficult it may be for people to adjust to the new rules and new reactions.
