Anxiety, tension, confusion, and irritability
Cognitive therapy helps in dealing with feelings of anxiety, tension, confusion and irritability. Other ways to deal with these feelings include; advising the victim to exercise, minimizing the use of stimulants like caffeine, proper meditation, self-evaluation and reflection, and adjusting to different lifestyle aspects.
Sense of frustration, anger, and resentment
These feelings are normal, and relieve stress, which provides a way of solving a current or a past situation. Sometimes the feelings can lead to adverse effects and therefore should be controlled. Cognitive therapy, gradual relaxation and inducing activities that will let go of the feelings can be used. Such activities include talking to the victim, physical activity, creative writing to express the feelings and mediation as well (Zunker, 2011).
Emotional hypersensitivity and hyperactivity
The concepts refer to how some individuals experience more than average intense emotions. Victims can come up with ways of suppressing or avoiding the emotions, by identifying the source or triggers of the disorder. Cognitive therapy can be applied to reduce sensitivity, as well.
Suppression of feelings, withdrawal, and depression suppressive emotions.
Ways to deal with these feeling include; determining their causes, exercising, listening to music and avoiding situations that could accelerate the sense. Medical therapy can be used to help in solving depression and such suppressive emotions.
Reduced effectiveness of communication
A victim can take the time to come down to compose ideas and deliver them efficiently. He or she could learn good listening and communication skills.
Feelings of isolation and alienation
Dealing with isolation and alienation starts with identifying the triggers of the feeling (Zunker, 2011). The victim could then have to avoid the triggers. However, it can only work for a short time. Therefore, it is important to avoid a situation that brings alienation and learn to relate well with others in the long run to avoid separation.
Boredom and job dissatisfaction
An individual would need to change the working environment through job rotation or open days, to kill boredom. He or she could share out any grievances on causative agents of job dissatisfaction and boredom for remedies to be provided.
Mental fatigue, lower intellectual functioning, and loss of concentration
An individual can relax by sleeping, listening to slow music and exercising in other activities that will help in relaxing the mind. Cognitive therapy can also be used.
Loss of spontaneity and creativity
It could be helpful to engage the victim in self-expressive therapy activities such as writing, narration of artwork such as poems, stories, and music. Drawing or sketching some arts to gain back creativity is helpful when dealing with this situation.
Lowered self-esteem.
A person with low self-esteem should identify and avoid its causes. He or she should learn about ways of boosting low self-esteem. A healthy relationship with others could help in boosting the low esteem.
